Btw, it was very nice to be able to be a cyberauntie to you. My D very much enjoyed meeting you!

thank you tashmu, and bway chic, ill post my experience on here :-)

Ok, here is my documentary of my amazing experience at the NYC and Chicago unifieds .

NYC UNIFIEDS

I got into NYC the night of the 2nd around 10pm, and I got up the next morning at 6 to get ready to go down to the audition building. I got there at around 8, it wasn’t far from my aunts hotel, I caught a cab and went,I didn’t have an audition until that afternoon at 3 for Boston Conservatory, but I wanted to get there early to walk around and to see if any of my friends from CMU were there.

So yes I got there, and loved the location, right in the middle of times square! And next to the hersheys store..lol, it was great. I went inside feeling a bit uncomfortable cause I didn’t know where to go and also I noticed that everybody had their parents there for support etc. while I didn’t have anybody. So I went upstairs and actually saw two friends from CMU who were about to go into their CCM audition, I wished them good luck and sat down in like the lobby area, not quite sure what to do with myself or where to go. So I sat down, and one of my friends parents actually introduced themselves to me (my friend lily) her father introduced himself to me, and I guess noticed that I was by myself, cause he said if there was anything I needed I could ask him…he said if I needed a hug, support, anything…he was there, and that made me feel better . I went outside for a while to take pictures of times square and videos of the area (yes I know im a freak..lol)…but it was a lot of fun.

Boston Conservatory
So I went back upstairs, and found out where Boston Conservatory was. I went and signed up for a dance call at 11am, changed and warmed up. The woman at the door was extremely nice, it was a very nice setting, everybody was just sitting down waiting for auditions. A lot of girls and guys seemed intimidated because all up and down the halls you could hear people practicing, and everybody sounded good. I loved to hear the practicing, even though they are kind of my competition, I had so much respect for them listening to them sing, and I always would like go up to them and tell them that I like their voice, and they were a lot of girls there who had amazing voices…I kept on thinking...how do theses guys choose just twelve???...everybody was really good, and I just loved being in that environment.

So I warmed up, changed etc. and just waited for the dance audition. We had to fill out a green sheet and a yellow sheet, about our training in dancing and singing/acting (my singing and acting sheet was quite blank..lol)..So now the dance audition.

The woman was amazing and so my fun, we started with combinations across the floor to a really cool song, it was a lot of fun. Then she taught us a combination (it wasn’t hard, but it wasn’t easy…I loved it, it allowed u to express yourself)…so we did that, then she separated us into groups of 4 to dance it. Then she taught us another combination (a latin one) and I felt right at home, cause we dance that a lot in Barbados, so we did that. The dance started out with us improvising pretending that we were in a club…lol, I loved it, it was great..lol, and then we all started dancing together, the dance involved a lot of hips etc. it was a great dance, and then after that one, the dance audition was done. The whole audition was about an hour and a half. The woman was really nice, she gave us her business cards and said that we could contact her if we had any questions…it was a really great audition.

So when that was done, I went to the bathroom to change and then warm up for the singing/acting audition. When I was done changing I went back to my bag to get some water, and I saw a girl from my dance audition, and asked her how she liked it, she said it was good, and the woman that did our audition hadn’t stopped talking about me since the audition was done, she overheard her, she apparently really liked my dancing, which made me feel good, but it felt a bit weird being told that from somebody who had auditioned with me. But I said that she was also a good dancer…cause she really was. But it was good to know that the auditor liked me. But I kind of realized afterwards because I ran into the auditor and she sat me down and said she noticed that I was form somewhere different because of my dancing, and I told her I from Barbados, she said she wanted to come and visit…lol, she was really nice and we talked for a while.

So afterwards I sat down (oh wait, I had to go downstairs to photocopy my headshot and resume, cause I didn’t know that we need two sets one for dancing and one for singing/acting..but the dance auditor said it was ok, she just wanted to make sure she had a face to put with a name.) so I did that and then sat down and waited. While I waited I prayed just to have a good audition (im a big Christian) and I just told myself that ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’. I actually prayed and said that before every single audition.. It’s just my beliefs and who I am 

So I went in and did my audition, it was a lot of fun! I did my songs and monologues, and then he asked me some questions. He asked me about my training and noticed that I had only been trained for 6 weeks at CMU, but he was like obviously, you have been singing for all your life…and I was like…no...lol...he seemed a bit surprised at that and said I had a powerful voice, then asked me to pull up a chair and sit down. So I sat, and we talked about why I liked the school how I go into MT, he asked me if I had any questions, I just asked him, what he looks for at these auditions….cause they see so many people. it was him a woman that we conducting the audition and they were both extremely nice, so when the interview thingy was done, they said thank you very much, I said thank you and I left feeling good that my first audition was done…yay!!!!.

What I didn’t mention to your guys was that I met and talked to ( for a while) tashmu and her daughter, they are so nice. Tashmu offered to be there for me as parently support and I really appreciated it. She was there to offer me a good luck before I walked into the audition room and then after the audition, she went with me to get some tea and we talked some more . I actually don’t know how I would have gotten through that first audition without her there. I’m trying to remember everything we talked about…but I cant, lol… im right now regretting not getting a picture with her and her daughter . Thank you so much though tashmu….thank you .

So that night I went out to dinner with 6 friends form CMU at Plant Hollywood, and then we went to see a broadway show…I went to see the color purple, and cried from the very beginning to the very end, it was amazing, and it gave me such inspiration for the upcoming auditions. I just kept on thinking…god, I want to play that role. It completely touched me and took over my heart. It gave me such inspiration and just made me thankful for everything.

Cincinnati Conservatory of Music
So the next morning, bright and early I had Cincinnati audition. I had my dance call at 9am and my singing and acting audition at 11:59am (lol…yea..i was actually the last person in the room). Before the dance audition, there was a small information session, and it was great, it made me like the school even more. So then I did the dance audition and by the way, it was amazing, it was so much fun, like so so so much fun, we did a dance to song from urinetown, and I had so much fun and felt so free while doing it (tashmu’s daughter was amazing at it as well, and she was in the other group in the same audition and I just couldn’t help but watch her when she was dancing, she put such feeling into it. I loved watching her  ) I was a great dance and a lot a lot of fun.

So when the dance audition was done I went and changed and warmed up for the singing/acting. Unfortunately this was about the time I had to say good bye to tashmu and her daughter ..that wasn’t fun .
So I got ready etc. sat outside the room and waited, listening to everybody else infront of me…it was kind of a long wait, but it went by fast. I was there answering questions people had about where im from..lol. so finally everybody had gone and the second last person was in the room and I was standing at the door, and there was a mother sitting on the other side of the door and she just looked up to me and said ‘just sing as beautiful as you look and you’ll be great’ I found that was really nice of her to say, I said thank you, and then in a few mins I was called inside.
I went inside the room, handed them my stuff and it was great…I saw three smiling faces looking at me from behind a table. They said that I’ve traveled a long way, and I said yes, but it was so worth it. So I did my songs and monologues, and bubba was just sitting in the middle with a constant grin on his face..lol,all of them were just smiling..lol, he was so nice, and at the end of everything, he said ‘great’. And then he asked me some questions, about my CMU summer, and my training, I told them how CMU had changed me and what it meant to me, I told them how I had trained myself, and how I was basically hoping that a school accepts me so that they can train me properly, and I just see all three faces looking up at me smiling, and one of them was a guy who was recording my audition and had actually recorded the whole thing, and during the interview he was just continually nodding his head, they were all really nice. He asked some more questions, I talked from my heart and just told them how I felt. Bubba asked the dance teacher (who was also watching) if she had any questions for me, she shook her head, she is such a nice lady and then he asked the guy that was recording, and he said no, its perfect, bubba then asked me a few more and the guy was still nodding his head, lol, and bubba was just smiling. So then I was done, I thanked them for their time, and left feeling good that my second audition was done. When I went outside, the same mother was sitting by the door, and she was like, no lie, there were parents lined outside here listening to you sing, they asked me if I was your mother and I wanted to say yes..lol, and then she was like, you have a really powerful voice…I was just like..thank you...thank you…I don’t think she realized how much what she said meant to me…
Anyways…I had a lot of fun at this audition, and if I get in or not….I really really enjoyed the experience. It was great and something I will never forget.

Otterbein College
Ok, so I did not realize that the doctorjohn from CC was the one who was going to be my auditor. When I walked into the room, I see him sitting there behind a desk, he asked me to sit down, and he was like, ive been reading your posts for about a year now (all though this I was confused)…and then he was like im doctorjohn from CC, when I heard that I was so happy...i was like oh my gosh! …and I stood up and hugged him …that seriously made my day . He said that he had been looking forward to this audition for a while, that made me feel really good. He is so nice, and he immediately made me feel comfortable in the audition. So then I got up and did my songs and monologues...i think they went ok, im not too sure..lol.i think I so badly wanted to impress doctorjohn that I may of messed up..lol. Then I did a dance piece, which was fun, but a bit awkward for me since I had on a dress..lol, it was ok .
So when I was done…doctorjohn asked me to sing my first songs again, but to sing it sitting down and to feel what I was singing, he made me close my eyes and actually feel it, and it helped so much, just those few mins of him telling me what to do helped so much. So I sang it again sitting down, and softer with much more feeling and it felt really good.
So that went well and then afterwards we talked for a while and realized that we were both going to Chicago the following morning early ( and we were on the same flight..lol) and he asked me to sing again for some people in Chicago, with a piano...which made me feel nervous and excited …more excited though..lol….so then I said goodbye and thank you to the amazing doctorjohn and his students in the room, and went caught a cab and went back to my aunts hotel.

CHICAGO UNIFIEDS
So now the Chicago unifieds…ahh.ok, here we go.

So I was on the same flight as doctorjohn and we also shared a cab to the hotel, im right now so greateful for how kind he was, he is such an amazing man….thank you doctorjohn. So we got to the hotel after all the conversations he and my aunt were having in the car..lol, between sports, politics and schools..lol. so we got to the hotel and oh my gosh…it was FREEZING, I mean I didn’t mind NYC to much, but Chicago was colldddddd..lol.so we went inside and found our way to the front desk (with help from doctorjohn) and then organized rooms etc. and went our separate way, and I arranged with doctorjohn to go to the Otterbein audition room around 10 am, so I went back to my room, defrosted myself, lol, bathed etc. ran downstairs to get some breakfast(which consisted of half a bagel), then dragged my suitcase (which had in all my audition stuff) outside the Otterbein audition room. I sat outside and noticed that they were kind of busy and I didn’t was to disturb, so I went for a walk around the hotel, to see what different schools were there. I went back to the Otterbein room and sat outside finishing my breakfast, and I heard doctorjohn say ‘Kayla you can come in now’ which I kind of wasn’t expecting right then..lol, cause there were people outside waiting to audition, but I quickly stuffed the remainder into my mouth trying to eat it quickly while walking into the room…I walked in and finished just in time, said hi to everybody there, shook hands, and I was just so happy to be able to sing again for Otterbein, and everybody was really really nice  I did some scales on the piano, to see my range etc. and it was a lot of fun, I laughed a couple of times I messed up but it was completely nerve free for me, cause everybody was really nice, and the fact that doctorjohn was there, made it really easy and nice and all good, I was really happy to be able to sing again for them. And ohh.. I also had to sing one of my songs in acapella, and I was just told by (was it Mr. Davenport?) that I had a powerful voice and a big range. So it was fun, and then I shook hands again and thanked everybody for seeing me in Chicago  and then I left the room.

Oklahoma City University
On leaving the room I walked into guy from Oklahoma City University, he was right outside the room trying to get people to do walk-ins. The moment I walked out, he asked me where I was from and if I wont mind doing a walk-in for him, and he said that he wont stop talking to me until I signed up for one. So I looked on the sheet, which had sign ups for walk-ins, but it was completely full, so I told him that there was no space left for me to sign up, and he was like..ok, im going to put in a extra slot for you. So he wrote 12:10pm on the paper as my audition, which was so nice of him, cause I know how busy they must be, but it was great to get a walk-in from OCU because ive heard so much about them. So I scheduled that, and went to try and get some lunch quickly before 12:10 came…

I got my lunch, went back to eat it quickly, and when I went back they were ready for me, lol, so I had to try and stuff down food again, but he said I had time cause it was still early. I just got my stuff together slowly and went into the room, they were os nice before I walked into the room, smily and all, but form the moment we walked into the room and the door was shut, you just tell that it was serious business. They sat down behind the desk and asked me what I was going to perform, I handed them my stuff and then did my songs and monologues.
When I was done, he was like you acting was amazing, really well done..i said thank you, and then he was like you have a really nice and powerful voice…I said thank you again, lol, and then he asked me why I wanted to do this? What interests me in this career? And then he told me that this was a first audition and if you get through this one they normally ask students to come to the university to do some more stuff, and he said that he understood that I couldn’t, but he still wanted to see me again, so he told me that whenever I had the time, to come and see him tomorrow and he and I will sit down and have a ‘serious talk’… but he said to make sure and come back…so then that audition was finished, and I ran off to my next audition…my CMU audition.

Carnegie Mellon
From the moment I got off the elevator and walked on the floor I saw gary kline (the person who does admissions for singing) and I literally felt like crying, because he was the reason I was at unifieds, he was the one who told me audition for CMU again and to audition for colleges. He didn’t see me though he was talking to somebody, and then I walked closer and he looked up, and his face just like lit up..lol, I was so happy he recognized me..he was like kaylaa and I was like garyyy..lol..i went up to him and hugged him, looked at him again and hugged him again, tears we welling up in my eyes, I was extremely happy to see him. He looked at me and was like gosh your so pretty, and then asked me if I was going to audition for the school again, I said yes, that same afternoon, and he was just like great, I cant wait to see what you’ve done…lol….which I think increased my nerves by 50%..lol.

So everybody started coming to the room and we went inside for the information session, I was happy to see familiar faces like Gary Kline and Tony Mckay, and the Barbara the other acting teacher was extremely nice. So we did the information session and then everybody went to change for dance. The ballet and jazz combination were really good, I found it was easier than CCM and BOCO. So we did that and then everybody went outside to wait. Bascially for the CMU audition, you just have to wait, you don’t when your going to be called, so you just wait to be called in for singing, then go to another room, and wait to be called in for acting. So I changed and waited. Gary actually called my name quite quickly for singing….amm, I went inside and I must say, this was the weirdest audition ive done, which isn’t saying a lot, because in my life ive done a total of 9 auditions…but still it was weird. I gave the accompanist my piece, sang my two songs, the accompanist actually stopped in the middle of my first song, which had me a bit confused, lol…I think this was actually my worst audition..lol..becuase of the singing part. So I did my two songs, and looked at gary to see his reaction.he said my voice had I proved so much from pre-college, but I was trying a bit to hard…which I definetly was..lol. and then he asked me if I had any songs which showed my soprano voice, and I was gary I’m sorry I don’t, you know I had to come up with these songs by myself, and then he was like, I really wish you had come down in December for me to train you, he was like I feel so bad. Then he was like, ok, sing a song from Barbados, ok, that completely caught me off guard..lol. I was like gary our songs are called calypso and they are a bit weird, he was like they are not in another language are they? I laughed said no, and he was like ok, just choose one and sing one…lol, so I chose this song called free, and it is such a belt song, so I sang it acapella, when I was done, gary was just staring at me with his mouth open, he was like girl you have so much talent, so much, he was like I really wish I could of trained you before this. He was like you have such a talent and you don’t even realize it.
Then the accompanist who still sitting at the piano was like, shes amazing, can I go down to Barbados and train her? I dont mind...lol, I laughed, he was really nice…lol, and then gary said, ok lets do some scales to hear that head voice. So we did some scales, I showed them my soprano voice, and gary was like ohhh my gosh Kayla that voice is so beautiful, you should use it more often, and the accompanist looked up at me and she yes that I really should, he said it was extremely great, and offered again to come down and train me..lol. I now looked at gary, and you could tell me was like dying with this decision. He was like I so badly want you here, you have such an amazing talent, but I think what was edging him off was that I haven’t been trained, and he was like….its not even your fault. And then he was thinking to himself and like deliberating, lol, and then he was like ok, lets see how the acting goes, and then we will see from there…and I said ok, and thanked him so much for his time, and he hugged me and said I was such a sweet girl. I just love gary and im so thankful to him already for what he was done for me.
So I left the room and walked down the hall for my acting audition and just waited. So then I went in and auditioned for Tony Mckay, and I loved it, it was a lot of fun, he asked me to do my second monologue twice, and I just had a lot of fun, so then he hugged me, said he was happy to see me, I thanked him and left the room…I was done!..lol…I dragged my suitcase back upstairs to my room, and since it was still early I decided to walk about the hotel. I came across Gary Kline and the accompanist, the accompanist again said that I had a really good talent, Gary asked me how my acting audition went, and I said it went well, he asked me who I auditioned for and I told him Tony and he was like, I also want Barbara to see you. Mind you, at this point I was so tired, but I definetly didn’t mind doing again especially if gary wanted me too, so we went back to the room and they were still people waiting outside, gary put his word in, I waited till everybody was done and then went into the room with Barbara, and she was handed my comments for the day. So we said hi, she was very nice, she sat down and pulled out my comment sheet, she was like did you come here to sing for me, cause it says here you’re a brilliant singer, and I laughed, and she was I know I know, you’re here to do your acting, so she was like whenever your ready. So I did my two pieces, she aksed me to do my second piece again, but it improv it, I did it again and she cut me off half way and said ‘excellent’, and then she was like come and sit down lets talk. So I sat down and talked about CMU pre-college, where I was from, my training etc. and she was so nice, she told me to pack a snowball in a freezer and take it back down with me..lol, and then we talked for a bit more, and she was like ok, excellent, you did a really good job, thank you, so I thanked her and I left the room and then she ran into another room, in which I guess everybody was discussing what happened that day...lol. By this point in time I was so tired and worn out, I went out to get dinner, went up to my room and fell straight asleep, (which was around 8pm).

University of Michigan
So the next morning i got up at 5am, to warm up and get ready etc. and then I went downstairs got breakfast, put my sutff down at the university of Michigan place and then walked around the hotel. There was like nobody up, the hotel was deserted. There was nobody by the university of Michigan place, so I sat down and rest my head on my suitcase waiting, praying and humming to myself. 7 o’clock came, the auditon started at 8, still nobody was there, at 7:30 people started showing up, and then everybody went inside for the information session.

I loved listening to Brett Wagner speak, it just made me feel like I was meant to be there. He was really nice and they also asked a girl who was currently starring in the Chicago spelling bee, to come to the audition to talk to us if we had any questions, and she was such a nice girl, and she anything we asked her, she told us. She was one of the people who had done a dual degree program at umich, she got her other degree in Political Science, which I found was excellent.

So then after that, we had five mins and then went straight into our dance audition, we was a lot of fun, and it was relatively easy…it was just right .
So then we went outside and waited for our singing/acting portion, and it started to snow…I was freaking out, my friend told me it was snowing outside and me and her ran to find a window and just stared outside, tears were running down my face…it was so beautiful and it felt so magical. I loved it, we stood there for a while, just looking at it, and I was like I want to go outsideeee…u mich or snow?..lol…just joking, it was so magical though, so after staring at it we went back and waited for our turn. So my friend went right before me, and then I walked into the room quite bouncy and excited. Mr. Wagner said hi and then told me to walk to the front of the room and organize my music the accompanist who was a really really nice woman, so did that, handed him my stuff and stood in the audition spot. Im trying to remember which order I did, I think it was songs then monologues, so I did my first song, he looked up and said ‘very nice’ and then I did my second song and he was like excellent, you had a really powerful voice..i said thank you. Than he asked me what monologues I was doing I told him, and he chose one, I did it, and he was like very nicely done, great. And then he said can I see the other one to see some contrast, so I did the other one, and he was like excellent, thank you, and then he was writing some stuff. Then he looked up and asked me if I had prepared a piano piece and I said yes ( mind you I was highly embarrassed by this, because it was form a grade 1 book, I stopped playing piano when I was 12, but it was still a fairly difficult two hand piece..lol) so he asked me what was the name of the song and I said ‘the swing’ and I said its from this book, and I showed him the cover and laughed at myself, and told him sorry, cause I didn’t want him to be upset that it was from a grade 1 book, he looked at me and smiled and said that’s ok, we just want to see what level you are on, I was ok. So I sat down at the piano, and was having trouble with my book, so the accompanist sat don next to me and held my book for me, she was really nice, and then I just played, it felt so good and I felt so free..lol, it was really nice. And before I started he said that he might cut me off halfway through…but he allowed me to play the whole piece. So when I was done, he said thank you and very nice, and I went and stood back ifront of him in the audition spot thingy.
He said I had come a long way, I said yes, but it was definitely worth it, he said ‘good’ and then he asked me about my training, I told him I was trained for the 6 weeks at CMU, and then was like have you been trained otherwise, I said no, and then he asked if I had come up with the songs and monlogues by myself, I said the second song was form CMU, but everything else I had to chose by myself, and he said great….you did a great job, I said thank you very much, and then he basically took the words out of my mouth. He said, so I guess who basically want a program to take you in and help you get to where you need to go, and I was like yes basically, and he was like sure, im sure, and then he looked up and smiled and then wrote some stuff down…I was thinking in my head, please god let that be a sign that he likes me, lol. Then he looked up, smiled and said, ok Kayla, I think we are done here, thank you, and I said thank you, and he was like its snowing outside so you basically get the best of both worlds…I laughed and told him I was looking at the snow earlier...lol. I shook both of their hands, thanked them again and left the room.

Ithaca College
So my next and last audition was Ithaca at 12:30 and I think it was my hardest, cause before I an into some friends, and also such a close friend of mine adam, who I had been dyinngg to see, and I had to say hello and goodbye within that half an hour, and it killed me, I went to my Ithaca audition like crying, lol…it was really bad, I didn’t feel up to doing Ithaca.

But I went, and at first there was an information session, it sounds like really good school, but while he was talking, I could just feel in my heart that it didn’t feel like the right school for me. But after the information session was over, I was the first to go, because flights were being cnacelled, so I needed to get back on a plane quickly, so I went first. And it was a lot of fun.

I did my songs first, and he said very nice and great, then I didn’t my monologues, and he was like very nice. He asked me about my training and we talked a little bit, and then I thanked him a lot, he thanked me for coming all the way from Barbados to audition for the school, and then I left. Ran into the bathroom to change, my aunt made me rush to take a cab and go to the airport.

Which really heartbroke me cause I wasn’t able to go back to OCU and I wasn’t able to say goodbye to doctorjohn, who although maybe doesn’t know it, helped me so much during those unifieds, so much, and I so badly wanted to hug him and thank him for everything….i actually ran into the other woman who was in the Otterbein audition, and I thanked her, hugged her and told her goodbye, she said she was happy that doctorjohn asked me to sing again for them in Chicago, I should of told her to tell him goodbye for me, but I thought I was going to see him again…but I was back on the plane back to NYC, then I spent the night in NYC and left the next morning earl to head back to BIM (Barbados) and now here I am back home…waiting on results...lol..

For you mothers/fathers that have children going next year and for you teens that are going next year it was a really great experience. A lot of people by the end didn’t like it atall…it may have been stressful and everything, but I was amazing, and I would actually go back and do the whole experience again, I enjoyed it so much. I didn’t necessarily enjoy the waiting for each audition, but I enjoyed walking into a room and showing them what I could do…I loved it, every audition I found was a learning experience. It was really great and I hope that everybody gets back the results they are hoping for.

kaylagurl, one word: "WOW!"

You rock! You have a natural talent to be able to network...I think you are pure gold dear.

Thank you for posting your experiences.

SUE aka 5pants

Yeah Kaylagurl, it sounds like you're probably gonna have your pick of so many schools once April rolls around!! Good luck to you! You sound like you're going to go far!!

Thanks 5pants and Breakintosong :-)I actually still believe that I may not get into any schools, and my parents unfortunately still believe that. I know i got good feedback, but there are so many talented kids, so I dont atall have my hopes up, I'm just happy with how the experience went, I'm happy I had fun at each audition and I'm really really hoping I get into a school, and not necessarily the best school...just a school that fits me and who I am as a individual, thats all I want. But thanks for the comments you guys..:-)

Kays

Kaylagirl---I am going to look for you in the Broadway version of Color Purple. Your blog posting demonstrates that you have that certain something. I am so happy for you, as you experience the JOY that comes with following your DREAMS with passion. I know you will be in just the right MT program...You deserve it!

Kayla,
This is Nick from KY's mom. Wow! Sounds like everything was wonderful.
I know he hopes you'll be back at CMU with him. He's going to be in Doc's
program. Congrats!! Can't wait to hear about all the wonderful choices
you're going to have.

Kayla, you are a very brave and determined girl and obviously very talented, I found myself admiring you more and more as I read your "report". I wish you the best of everything!

Kayla -- I thought I'd run into you at NYC Unifieds, but I guess I didn't! It looks like things went really really well for you. I hope all turns out for the best!

kaylagurl, I like your spirit!!!

Thank you for sharing your account of your NY/Chicago Unified trip. You are a gifted storyteller (I felt like I was there with you) and it sounds like you have a bright future ahead of you as a performer! Congratulations on completing your auditions and best of luck to you.

Hi Kaylagurl,

I'm glad you had a good time at the auditions. However, I don't believe that you auditioned for OCU Bass School of Music. OCU does not participate in the Unified auditions. I don't believe our theater department was present (they wouldn't make you sing).

Now, the OCU Summer Music program was scheduled to be there as part of our national summer program auditions. Unfortunately, due to a huge mistake by the Palmer House Hilton, we were unable to attend at the last minute. We apologize to those who were looking for us. We certainly wanted to be there! Will be in Houston, TX later this month for auditons.

thanks you guys...and yes i later realised that it was oklahoma university that i had auditioned for..but thanks :-)...and thank you guys for the support :-) I really hope i get accepted places...thanks you guys :-)

kaylagurl - Thank you so much for sharing. You certainly do have a bright future in whatever you do. You bring pure joy to paper with your words. I, too, believe you'll have your choice of schools to pick from and absolutely can't wait to hear!!!!

Kaylagurl,

You are incredibly special! Kay and I read your posts about your unified experiences together yesterday and are just so happy for you! She was so glad that you all got to be together in NYC and had missed you so much! I feel as everyone else does here that good things are going to happen for you miss Kayla! You have such a wonderful charisma and charm and any school would be so lucky to have you!! You have "it" Kayla. The personality, the desire, the work ethic ....the only thing you have maybe missed out on is the training but that is something you will learn here!

Kay and I wish you nothing but happiness and good news ahead! We can't wait to hear where you will end up! :)

The NYC unified auditions ROCKED!
We didn't know what to expect, but each school had their organizational skills up to par. The auditioning students seemed to go with the flow.
I'm sure many will agree that it was a wonderful experience for all...............including parents!!!

Hey Kayla! Great job honey! The only thing you left out was the quick hug from your Auntie Harriet! Please make sure I get great seats to your debut in Color Purple, It will happen!

I went to the San francisco unifieds today and boy do my legs hurt! I walked up and down the stairs with my extra large suit case. I auditioned for: CCM, Boston Conservatory, Otterbein College, and University of the Arts. Overall, it was a lot of fun and a great learning experience. I pray I get in someplace!
