Hello all,
I will be attending UT-Austin's McCombs School of Business in the fall as a freshman. I used to be interested in a career in advertising but then decided to major in finance instead. I might double major or minor in either marketing or a liberal arts field such as economics or psychology. Recently, I have been looking into the field of law as another option for my future, but do not know a lot about it. I have a close friend who is a 25 year old patent lawyer but that would not be my chosen field of law because I find it boring and I am NOT going to major in engineering. How many different types of law are there? Would I be okay majoring in Finance if I want to apply to law school? I have heard tax law is boring but I am very good with numbers, and would prefer a suggestion for a field of law that does not involve alot, if any, court room time - I am a great researcher but an average debater. Thank you for any input you have, if there is even a question in here anywhere.

you could do typical 'big law' and work for a firm like Baker Botts in Dallas. I believe this year they raised started salaris for 1st year associates to 140k.

I think as long as you get a good GPA and LSAT you should be set for law school admissions.

why are you even considering law?
it's early yet - go to college, see what interests you - as long as you do well, law school will always be an option - there is no reason to make any decisions now.

Thank you, unbelieveablem - that was rather reassuring :)
