That took A LONG TIME TO MAKE
ANy reply is helpful, I want to go to:
Stanford
Cornell
CalTech
Georgetown
Carnegie Mellon
UC Berkeley
MIT
University of Washington

THANKS so much!

I will probably narrow the list down more :l

Keep in mind I took all of the Honors/APs offered at my school
(other than Freshman)

Your resume looks extremely impressive! I’m sure you can get into at least half of those schools that you listed.

Thanks! Georgetown and UW are my reach-safeties

@sirswish I wouldn’t go that far.

I’m not exactly sure your rigor is unique, but you have challenged yourself. A lot of students take college classes for credit.

Keep in mind that there are Intel and Google science fair finalists applying to these schools. There also science fair finalists that get rejected to these schools.

As for college credits, keep in mind that no college is required to give you credit for anything. I have heard so many stories of students who took a lot of APs in hopes of driving down the cost of college and even though the college claims they accept the credit with a 5, they got nothing. So be careful.

I think it is likely you get into UW. If you are a Cali resident, I would say that Berkeley is likely.

Stanford- High Reach
Cornell- High Reach (Kids with better have gotten rejected)
CalTech- High Reach
Georgetown- High Match
Carnegie Mellon- High Match
UC Berkeley- Match (If in state)
MIT- High Reach
University of Washington- Safety

Make sure you have some financial safeties too kiddo. I wish you the best

Georgetown makes no sense for Computer Science. They graduated 9 students from their program in 2012-2013. When we visited, my CS son wouldn’t even bother touring. CMU is REALLY hard to get into for CS, but a great option. The person who called it a High Match is Highly Mistaken. I would call it a reach, and Cornell a reach (not high). RPI and Rochester will both give you great merit aid and have good CS programs. Ohio State has good CS and will give you $15k merit against a reasonable OOS tuition rate.

But what do I lack? What does not make me as qualified as the ones who make it in? I mean, I have taken every available AP from Sophomore-Senior with a 4.0 UW GPA, I have heard my APs and SAT Tests were stellar, is it my ECs?

I find this weird, I entered your stats into that matching thing, and it said you were one of the most competitive for exceptional schools,
Your ECs look good for CS, so I think that would be a plus
Cornell is NOT a high reach, at all (the guy was referring to Tufts Syndrome I believe)

I do not know how someone can even have a low reach to Stanford and all of those selective schools (unless they cured cancer,) so basically a reach-high reach for everyone

Keep in mind I have heard UW has also rejected people because they figured they would just pass over them, so it is a safety but they also may reject it for that fact

Good luck, I think Georgetown is not a good idea for CS at all, but you should make it into 2-3 of the ones you apply to (other than UW)

I’ve never chanced anyone for every school they posted about individually, but I thought your profile was kind of interesting, so here we go!

My friend is an Intel ISEF finalist who was rejected from Stanford and MIT with perfect stats, so keep that in mind when applying. Cornell is a reach but will probably turn into a high match if you apply early decision, and I want to say that Caltech is also a lowish reach even though it’s so selective, because they love kids who are really into STEM.

I don’t know why you’re applying to Georgetown–they’re not really that big on computer science. CMU is a match and so is Berkeley. UW is definitely a safety, but I’d recommend another one just in case.

Good luck!

Yeah, Georgetown does not make sense at all, now that I realize it (I did there camp, but otherwise they do not have anything for CS)

I will take Georgetown out and definitely look into more STEM schools (that are safeties!)

I will most likely apply to most ED, but Stanford is my dream school, how much does applying ED help?

You need to understand that these are all among the most selective schools in the country. No one is entitled to admissions. The kid who has a 4.0, 2400 and is a Siemens finalist isn’t even entitled to admissions.

For those of you who think CMU is only a match for CS, here is their profile for CS admissions class of 2017:

CR: 720-780 Math: 780-800 Wr: 720-780 Rank: 5% GPA: 3.85

So their 75th percentile SAT is 780/800/780 = 2360. I think it is at least a high match …

If you look at colleges with 10% acceptance rates, you figure they end up rejecting at least 10% who are highly qualified, and 80% who aren’t. At best, you have a 50-50 chance at each school.

But if you apply to 10 schools, and have a 50-50 chance at each, the chance you will make NONE of them is pretty small.

Note also that rigor means your HS program. The college courses are worth bupkus (nothing) if they are at community colleges.
