Jbar, I hope you were able to get some help today. From your information, I am going to assume that you will be eligible for a Pell grant. With Pell eligibility comes the opportunity to get the Academic Competitiveness Grant (if you have the right qualifications). You may be eligible for FSEOG, if there is still some left in your school’s fund. I can’t guarantee this, of course, because I don’t have all of your info in hand. But … based on your info, it looks really good for you. Loans will not be your only option.

Since your parents are not married, you will need to use the parent with whom you lived the longest during the past 12 months. If you live with both, you use the parent who provided you the most support. If you can honestly say that this is your mom, then it won’t be so tough to get your info together.

Ok I went in and they helped me fill out the fafsa

then I called the schools head Financial Aid adviser to explain my situation

she told me since my mother doesn’t file taxes she has to fill out the non tax filler info and finish it get it all that together and send it in. Based on that info they might help me …

To prove her income all i need is a hand written letter from where she is employed.

Thanks you guys

You were all very informative . THIS SITE IS THE BEST and so are you guys.
