What is the unit cap limit per quarter for full time students?

l&s: 19

tft: 19

and whats considered average full time? I'm just asking because if average per quarter to finish your degree in 4 years is say 10 or 12. then it would be feasible to take one or two extra classes per quarter to help complete a minor or extra double major, or am i wrong?

you need at least 13 units per quarter.

Expected Progress

if you want to see if you can fit a double major or a minor, write out a 4 year plan with all the classes you have to take for your major and which quarters you plan to take them in. add up the units and see where you might have room to add something else in. also account for summer session too. and keep in mind the maximum unit cap for your school.

great link!

and you can always petition for more units, of course

and there's also summer school to fit in a couple extra classes...

wow...I would definitely go the summer school route to add some extra classes. Petitioning to take more than 19 units sounds ok now, but just wait until it is time for midterms and finals. That's a recipe for disaster.

how common is it really for students to double major? i only ask because one of the down sides to UCLA, whether you admit it or not, is the politics involved in attending a public school. I think I read you had to complete lower division requirements for your major and 2nd major before being able to double major is this true?
I only ask because I really have a strong interest in Art History and Philosophy. These obviously aren't impacted majors such as Business, or Film. Would I find myself having a hard time in double majoring?
