United States Naval Academy LOA and a Nomination

Has anyone ever heard of a applicant receiving a LOA from the United States Naval Academy but was unable to secure a nomination from a Congressperson, Senator or VP?

Yes, I’ve heard that those might be political.

Pasquinel, There is a forum for the Service Academies.
Just click on “colleges” on the left side of this page and you will see the U.S. Naval Academy forum. They can answer your question.

thank you for the lead

yes. however, the individuals did receive appointments.

If you have received an LOA and do not get an appointment from your MOCs or Senators, the academy will work with you to secure a nomination from another source, including the USNA Superintendent.

Having said that, candidates with LOAs still need to exhaust ALL of their nomination sources first.

Please advise! My husband and son and I practically wait by the mailbox waiting for an apointment. My son has 3 congressional nominations, is triple qualified, received an invite to the acdemy this fall, and had a LT. visit us over the summer. We have heard nothing further since receiving the nominations. He has an NROTC scholarship, but the Academy is his dream. I fear my family will spend the rest of their lives chasing our mail carrier. Please help me understand this uncertainty. He has no LOA and I am feeling very unsure…
