University Accreditation

Does studying from accredited institutes and universities help in getting better jobs? How do I know which accreditation is better than the other, especially for universities and colleges in USA?

Accreditations are important as they are provided by non-governmental bodies to recognise the quality of education provided and the performances of students annually for each of the courses. Accreditations that are provided in USA are mainly of two types: Regional and Professional. Having accredited for the courses makes the universities more credible and this definitely leads to getting better jobs. If you want to know which accreditations are better and which institutes offer comparatively better courses, you should talk to professional educational counsellors such as The Chopras. They have an in depth knowledge of the accreditations and will guide you properly. Hope this helps!

Lots of for-profit, online, and religious colleges say they are accredited, but their accrediting agencies are not legitimate. Stick with regionally accredited schools.

More specifically, there is accreditation of the school and accreditation of the major. In the US, accreditation of the school with the highest standards is regional accreditation (as opposed to national accreditation). Many of the lowest reputation for-profit universities have national accreditation, although some do have regional accreditation like the better known public and private non-profit universities.

Accreditation of the major only exists in some majors, most of which are pre-professional majors. Examples of accrediting organizations for various majors:

Architecture: NAAB
Business and accounting: AACSB
Chemistry: ACS
