Just wondering if anyone has received an acceptance lately? Seems like no one has posted any new ones in the last week or so? My son is still waiting, he did increase his SAT score though to an 1140 (I had posted earlier about him retaking it in December because it was pretty low) so hopefully he is in the ballpark now. UB is his first choice.
My son’s still waiting and I know EA results will still be coming in Jan and Feb. Higher test scores and lower gpa than typically accepted students. Sure enough, I just saw the new line added to his online status “Awaiting mid year grades”. A bit sour feeling to see someone who’s accepted with the lower score than my son, but I guess it’s a common dilemma for NYC parents who sent their kids to more selective high schools.
@futurenursemom1, my D’s acceptance packet came today and made no mention of scholarships (or major, for that matter). Hope you are right about getting $ info in January.
how did you check online status?
For those that were accepted for engineering or other majors, did your online acceptance letter or mailed packet mention the major you were accepted to?
My son got the one page letter with log In Info for myUB several weeks ago it had no mention on letter about major, but when he logged into myUB on the bottom of the page is a section for admissions and it had engineering as his major. He received the welcome packet today, welcome letter did not mention major.
@yiddopup Thank you. That worked great!
I got accepted Nov 17th but got the acceptance packet in the mail yesterday (12/17) and there was no indication about my major. On the portal there was only a thing that said I got into the college of arts and sciences
@yiddopup What are his stats? Still waiting for engineering decision. I heard that they got a record number of applicants this year.
@ironman416 I did what @yiddopup suggested and it worked. You should have received a letter in the mail from Buffalo containing login credentials to the UB student portal. Once you activate that you will see the school you applied to.
ok thank you
My son applied for Aerospace Engineering and received his packet today. No mention of major in the packet. The acceptance letter is dated 12/11/2018. The portal show “Engnr & Appl Sci Bachelor”. He has a 1320 SAT, 3.7 GPA.
I got my acceptance packet but it doesn’t show my major. My portal doesn’t show anything either.
Which would you prefer for a science major-pre med track, ualbany or ubuffalo? I got accepted to both.
Accepted 12/14/18, Instate, 3.7711 WGPA, 1300 SAT
@biomedical2023 My understanding is that Buffalo is a more respected school than Albany, especially for science. The ranking is 1 - Bing, 2 - Stony Brook, 3 - Buffalo, then the rest of SUNYs… Good luck!!
@biomedical2023 definitely SUNY Buffalo. It has a really good medical program. SUNY Albany isn’t as good tbh
@AJC thank you. I heard stony brook isn’t boring on the weekends and that the city where bing is doesn’t have a lot ofc opportunities like buffalo. Do you know if it’s true?
@lovepreett I heard that too. I heard Albany is more of a law/business/humanities type of university and buffalo Ian like health, engineering and math
@biomedical2023 My understanding is that Stony Brook is a commuter school. Majority of the kids commute from Long Island so there is not much of a college community on the weekends etc. So it is somewhat true. Bing is located in a small town, but it is fine, in my opinion. We visited it last spring, and it seemed acceptable. Bing has a beautiful campus, but I heard Buffalo campus is great too (we have not visited). If you get in, you should definitely consider Bing. My son is still waiting to hear from Bing and the wait is killing us… He got accepted into his top choice private school, but the tuition came back outrageously expensive. It is very disappointing and painful to get your hopes up and then receive terrible news…
