For my undergraduate degree, I wanted to go to the University of Chicago, and sadly I got declined. Now, I am thinking about applying again this time to their Law School. Do you think they still have my application? Can they see the essay I submitted and my ACT scores? Would they not care about that and only look at my current application?
I seriously doubt they have your old app or would care, your admittance or rejection will be based largely on your LSAT and GPA among a few other things.
I think if you check, you’ll find that the undergrad admissions office and the law school admissions office are entirely separate. The law school application isn’t going to ask you where you applied undergrad. I can’t imagine that the law school admissions office is gong to check with undergrad admissions to see if you applied and, if so, what happened.
@Wonderluster, why would it matter if you had applied as an undergrad and been rejected? Why are you paranoid? I very much doubt that UChicago LS has the time to dig up old applications. They wouldn’t know if you had applied a while back nor would it have any relevancy to your current application. It’s an odd question.
It’s not a paranoid question as many applications have the question “have you applied to [ ] before?”. Whether the question is limited to the specific program or applies to the university as whole is something only a reading of the actual application will reveal, and the Law School doesn’t necessarily have access to College admission data from several years ago (nor is there a reason to expect them to). Just answer the question honestly and you’ll be fine. Having a high LSAT and college GPA, good recs. and a purpose for applying will be your best ways of maximizing your admission chances now.
