University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

Yes. Rigor IS subjective … even within the same school AP class with teacher X does not equal AP class with teacher Y ! Our school is quite infamous (unfortunately not known to AO’s) for having a few GPA busting teachers. They fancy themselves doing the kids a favor but the reality is otherwise when it comes to admissions.

That’s everywhere. My son’s statistics teacher is a crazy example. But it’s still fair to assume AP classes are more rigorous than honors in general. Sometimes, it may not be the case for each individual though.

Does everyone have the message about transcripts on their portal?

At this point UF has made it’s decisions so what our kids did doesn’t really matter, but for those with younger kids they need to know the system is rigged.

My D’s school is one of those 10 feeder schools known for rigor. In 4 years she took 10 AP’s 3 AICE, 6 DE, rest honors and only two regular classes - Spanish 1 and 2. Played a sport so didn’t have to take PE. She knew how to “play the HPA game”, but there are kids that played better than her, took Spanish and fine arts as a dual enrollment.

Something has to give, she was on a hamster wheel for 4 years and I hope she isn’t getting off one to only get on another. If there is another thread to discuss this please point me in that direction. I would like to discuss it with other Florida parents because I think we are trying to catch up with the rest of the country, but are we doing a good job?

Recruiters are not recruiting our college kids, the pay isn’t as good down here, yet our cost of living is going up.

what message do you have about transcripts? I just asked my daughter to check her portal, she told me that nothing has changed for her.

There is a Facebook group of parents of UF students.

I have the following message:

*Transcripts uploaded or received by mail will display on the Application Checklist as Transcript - Under Review. Once the transcripts are reviewed, these checklist items will be removed and the Awaiting Transcript checklist items will be updated accordingly.

I wrote an email to admissions to correct my class rank since I thought it mattered. I got a response saying it was not considered in the admissions decision. Hope this helps!

This is exactly what I received from admissions:

Class rank is not a factor nor consideration in the application process.

My daughters says the same , but we can’t remember if it was always there or something new

Yes, I know that is what they say. I think that it is a bit of semantics. We also had someone on this thread that works in Admissions say “we definitely look at applicants from a school in relation to each other in addition to the entire applicant pool”. Certainly, they are comparing all facets of the application, not just GPA. But, when it comes to GPA and Rigor, how do you compare students from different high schools? You really cannot. So, who then are they comparing GPAs and rigor. Classmates.

I see. That makes sense!

It very well could be something every applicant has. I am just curious because colleges sometimes put out indicators of whether someone will get in or not before the actual release date. For instance, Yale had a mid-year report show up on the checklist for applicants who were either deferred or accepted before the actual decision release time.

I guess we will find out on Friday!!! But true some schools does have some changes or clues on a portal before releases

Yes!!! It is always best to wait for the official decision.

it’s always been there.

I believe that is a recent update. We noticed it as well. In the Admissions portal, If you look below it has always given definitions for transcript type and status, except for “transcripts received-under review.” So now they added that statement for clarity. I would imagine everyone who submitted transcripts properly would see that status, and it will be updated after admission status is announced Friday. But I could be completely wrong. I just don’t remember seeing that statement before. @Melissa96 are you allowed to comment?

Are you talking about mid year transcripts? I called The UF admissions office and they said that they wouldn’t accept my senior mid-year transcript. Could I have submitted it?

No end of junior year transcripts. You wouldn’t have mid senior year transcripts typically by the application deadline.

We haven’t made any official freshman decisions yet. The transcript review definition went in a little while ago mostly so students at the other levels (transfer/grad) understood that we have to have a person review their transcript before their checklist will be updated.

@jestellr416 - we do not look at mid-year grades for decisions with the exception of students graduating in 3 years.
