University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

So I was directly admitted into UW’s business school, and I am looking into getting into consulting as a career path. Would UW not be optimal for recruitment in consulting? What makes Kelley a little ahead? I am not entirely interested in OSU, but would like to know some key comparisons between IU and UW bschools.

Thanks for the clarification!

Melissa, do you mean that you haven’t released or posted any freshman decisions? I can’t imagine that you guys are waiting until now to start deciding who is getting in? I honestly thought that you would be just about finished by now,.

Thank you so much!

I guess it’s mostly done, and Melissa has started taking vacation

I meant nothing has been loaded into the where students will see their decision/checklist - so absolutely nothing will look different for students.

Sorry to cause confusion by bringing up the transcript thing. So basically everyone has the note about the transcript?

yes, everyone at all levels of admission.

OOS going to Florida this weekend to visit FSU; if D is admitted, we plan to tack on a visit to UF so she can compare (as much as you can, with a self-guided tour). Any recommendations for UF must-see’s, local dining? Will we be able to go into any buildings? The UF self-guided tour map seemed kind of skimpy.

You’ll of course get to walk around outside and the book store/Reitz Union is open - most everything else is only accessible to students cleared for campus with a UFID.

The Museum of Natural History is open with a Survival of the Slowest exhibit that looks cool although I have not been yet.

Definitely go to the museum and check out the butterfly exhibit. It’s awesome!

Are they ever going to renovate Jennings? It looks the same as it did 35 years ago!

I lived in Jennings 35 years ago. 1990 Fall, the Danny Rolling year.

I’ve been. I just haven’t seen the sloths and hedgehogs they have now.

I just found this page, can’t help but be nervous for my son. He was waitlisted at Virginia Tech which was his other top choice. Stats are 1430 SAT, 3.97 unweighted GPA, 7 APs, good ECs. We thought VT was a match…and now the UF decision has even more weight. We are overseas with the military (without same opportunity for honors/advanced classes) but qualify as in-state based on parent residency. Just wanting to share some nervous energy, good luck to all.

For past school decisions I’ve been a part of (namely Georgia Tech, UVA, and Purdue) there’s been different unintentional indicators of results. For example, additional buttons show up on the GT fin-aid page for accepted students prior to decision release. Has UF historically had any such indicators?

I’m sorry your son didn’t get into VT. Was he an engineering major? At my daughter’s high school all of the students were waitlisted (4.65 gpa, 1540 SAT, #9 in the class for example). Fortunately, my d was accepted for animal science but her SAT was 1330. My d’s #1 choice is UF. I hope she’s not heartbroken on Friday.

Yes, engineering, it’s crazy how competitive it was. My son is a legacy and considers Blacksburg his hometown. We lived there for 3 years while my spouse got his PhD, the longest he’s every lived anywhere as a military kid. So disappointing. Congrats to your daughter!

Wow - your son has a lot to be proud of. What other schools did he apply?

Hopefully he’ll get into VT - but he’ll have options no matter what with those statistics.

Waitlist still gives him a real chance. It seems like more got deferred or waitlisted this year because schools have so many applicants - they have no clue how large or small their classes will be. If you got 30% more applicants, you’re not going to get 30% more students - so I think they’re hedging to see how many enroll, doing their best to get the size right.

Keep the faith - but I’m sure he’s got fantastic choices nonetheless.

My son chose Alabama over Purdue - crazy to me as they are very low ranked engineering - but all their kids get great jobs and my son has an internship this Summer at an automotive OEM. And saved me probably $80-90K. So no matter where he ends up he can still do great things!!!

He is accepted at Tennessee (with a merit scholarship to make the cost close to in-state) and Clemson. He will be fine but I had pictured him in Blacksburg and know a few people there for emergencies - expectations for waitlist movement are low for us but I guess you never know… Since we are halfway around the world a little bit of familiarity seems comforting.

He has also always wanted to be a Gator and that’s his dad’s undergrad stomping grounds so just staying hopeful.

Thanks for your kind words, have a great day!
