If I applied to Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, is there any possibility I could get put in a PACE major?
PACE Majors
I applied undecided to arts and sciences, which makes me eligible for PACE. Is it possible for students who are accepted to PACE to do online courses from campus/ near campus, or do they have to do online courses from home?
Also, are some UF applicants admitted to a summer semester, if they’re not qualified enough for the fall semester?
I’m sure you can do it near campus if you can afford it. But I doubt they give you that money in your budget for financial aid, but this is only a guess.
Students can also take classes at Santa Fe while part of the PACE. Only a certain # of hours have to be UF Online. Attending Santa Fe allows students to have in person classes (plus UF Online students sometimes attend the live classes at UF too). Read the reviews for Windsor Hall - just like a dorm. To each their own, but there is more to PACE than just 100% online for “2 years”. It depends on reasons the student wants to attend UF.
Did everyone just get that email about checking portal tomorrow, etc. I’m assuming they are giving everyone heads up that tomorrow is the day for those who have been under a rock for the last several weeks, haha.
UF chooses the students it is going to admit first. Then we look to see the preferred term and try to accommodate but there are applicants who are admitted to a term they didn’t apply (usually applied to fall, moved to summer since most students apply for fall).
The email went to everyone who applied by the on-time deadline.
UCF business program is also mainly online (pre-Covid). My son transferred after 1 semester - he quickly figured out it was not a good fit for him. He now has small, in person classes and is learning so much. Kids and parents need to look at the program, not just the school name when choosing a school. My son chose UCF because it was close by and he liked the school - never really looking closely at the Business Program. I know better now for my 2nd child.
I have heard that is also the case with UF business program. Any thoughts or information on that?
hello I had a question about admissions standards. UF releases stats based upon the total admitted class which includes the late applications (the late admits are significantly harder to get into compared to priority deadline students). Won’t that mean the released stats UF will release in May for the priority submissions actually be lower than the ones that UF officially releases?
Yes, I have also heard that UF business is mostly online but I don’t know any students currently in the business program at UF. The best bet is to keep asking friends (and friends of friends) who are in that program for their experience. I had one person tell me about the online program at UCF, but I didn’t really think it could be that much different than when I got my business degree there. I was wrong. Keep asking around until you find someone you can personally ask. You could call the school (but sometimes they don’t give a true perspective like a current/former student can). If your child gets in, maybe join a UF Parent FB group and throw out that question - I am sure you will get some answers.
Email about buying tickets to next fall Gator football games today. Maybe a good omen or cruel timing?
Might be a good sign. I didn’t get one. Have you ever got an email about tickets before?
@Melissa96 when it gets to the point that students have to be moved from fall to summer, how do you pick who to move to summer?
I am an alum and former Gator athlete/booster so yes I have gotten them before, just funny timing with decisions tomorrow!
Thank you!
I heard even without covid, UF forecs students to do some online classes, is that true? Particularly in the business school.
Yes
I tried to contact the admissions office about this a while back but never got a response. I submitted my common app by the deadline but it shows up a day later on the UF portal. Will this be an issue?
edit: whoops just checked and missed the email where they said I would be fine
