University of Florida

Greetings,

Although I have not yet taken the SAT (November 5), as usual "I feel very confident about what I will score"... Also taking the ACT soon.

I was wondering if there could possibly be any chance I could get into the University of Florida

non-academic:
in-state
Black male
Single parent family
neither parents went to college

academic:
High shcool GPA: 3.5W (I think 3.2 uw..)
College GPA: 3.7

The thing is.. my ECs are a bit lacking(only two things: helping out at my aunt's retirement home and various events with my church youth group). But i think I have an impressive job/work history

BUT I have been taking college courses at the community college instead of AP classes.. so I have a lot of transferrable credits under my belt, which I also think will help.

fyi, my other choices are:
University of Central Florida
Florida International University
Florida State University
Florida Atlantic University
Arizona State University

Also, I am on track for the Bright Futures 100% tuition scholarship (getting more community service hours this year)

If not, there's always the Bright Futures 75% scholarship which virtually anyone can get

[edit] also a very low income (< $25,000)

I think you should go ahead and be a Nole.

bump bump bump..

I know it's hard to predict this without SAT/ACT

but I also have an upward trend in my grades if that'd help any

I'd say you have a pretty good chance at UF...but it's hard to predict, since you are a bit unusual with no APs (but with dual-enrollment instead), and uncertain SAT scores. Dual-enrollment GPA looks solid.
