University of Idaho visit

Sorry this review is scattered at best. I am doing this from memory of four months ago!

This is about our visit to the University of Idaho, located in Moscow, ID. This was at the "Sneak Peak for Juniors and Seniors" back in May.
First of all, let me say that to the date of our visit, this was the nicest day weather wise after a very long winter. It got warm enough to walk around in short sleeved t-shirts. The day was sunny and the campus was beautiful. As many campuses, the U of I has many old buildings through out campus. There are also some nice new buildings as well, but they are tastefully blended. There is lots of open green space for hanging out or lying on the grass.

Our tour guide a senior education student, was very happy to take our group of aprox. 12 families around campus. She kept trying to sell the Greek LIfe to us. But to her dismay, none of us were interested. She kept trying to tell us that Greek life here at the U of I is not like it is in movies or on tv.
Our tour started out with a brief history of the school and how this school was different from other schools. They are very big into the green way of life here, if that is important to you. I can't recall the specifics, but if this is important to you check out their web site.

Back to the campus... The campus is so post to be dry and the Greek houses are actually on campus and are watched carefully. The Kibby Dome can have alcohol for large events with a permit. I am sure there is still drinking here, but it is not tolerated so much as some of the other schools.

I got some great pictures on my cell phone of some of the buildings. If I could figure out how to add them here I would...

They have a great recreation area. It has the largest indoor climbing area in the country (?) A great work out facility surrounds the area with many exercise machines, tv's and music playing in the background. They also have an indoor floor/roller hockey rink. They have a great place for outdoor recreation as well. You can join in hikes, camp outs, whatever you like to do outdoors, or just rent the equipment there. The northwest is great because of all the opportunities for outdoor recreation.

One thing my son worried about was the snow. Since having such a long winter, he was sick of the snow. Someone told me that all the walkways and sidewalks are heated, so no trudging through the snow to get to class.

We ate in the cafeteria (can't recall the name). They had several choices of food to choose from. I though the food was pretty good. There were plenty of people in line and also at tables enjoying the food and enjoying each others company.
We toured the Tower and Wallace. The Tower was typical style rooms with brick walls and no carpet on the floors. Wallace was suite style with 2 rooms sharing a bathroom. Each floor was gender specific. Lots going on through out.

We met in the hockey rink for trade show types of displays. People from various departments and clubs handed out brochures and answered questions. The sole purpose we were there was to speak with someone in the Civil Engineering dept. He seemed very knowledgeable and helpful. He explained that with the WUE OOS would be pretty close to the same price as going to WSU across the boarder some 9 miles away. All in all we had a great day. The only complaint that my son had was that the street signs on campus are not labeled, so that made it hard to find our starting destination. The students were friendly. The campus was pretty. The day was perfect. What more could you ask for in starting out your search for a college? (Originally, my son wanted nothing to do with colleges in the North west. Now he is thinking more practically, and giving this schools a second thought. Hopefully we will get to tour WSU before it comes time to make the final choices. Both schools are within about 2.5 hours and only 9 mile away from each other. To check out either school:
