Hi,
So I was just wondering if my chances may be good to get accepted into either University of Iowa and Iowa State University; I considered these as safe schools by crunching in the numbers on the RAI Calculator, so I am just want to make sure that a score of 292 is legitimate or not. Here’s a look my stats for reference:
SAT Test (December 2017)
550 Reading
550 Math
Class Ranking
38 out of 600 students
GPA:
3.8 W and 4.4 UW
Thanks again.
P.S. Does anyone know if there are any other requirements or recommended materials (like an essay) for admission or scholarships?
Forgot to mention: my major of interest is BIOCHEMISTRY by the way.
Your grades are good, but SAT is on the low side. You are just above the 25th percentile of ISU applicants, and under the 25th percentile for UI. They require the SAT or ACT. Your chances would be better with a higher score. Google the Common Data Set for each school to see test score ranges and more info.
Look at the admissions page on each college website for specifics on their applications.
Iowa State - yes. I know someone who got in with similar stats and scores. IU I know nothing about.
If you find anything “recommended”, treat it as “required”
The Iowa system is super simple. If your regents score is higher than 245 (instate) or 255 (out of state), you’re in. Your stats might even get you into honors program
What RAI score is required for the honors program? I just looked up my RAI score now, and University of Iowa states that my RAI Score is 313.
Look up honors college on their website. On the application, indicate interest and/or apply from the honors college’s website.
