Scholarship information starting to show up on the Link Blue portal under financial section.
My son does not have any scholarship info on his portal. Now I am going to be the anxious mom as we continue to wait.
Are your kids considering any other schools? Do you have to put down a deposit when you apply for a certain dorm?
Proudmom9 - go to financials and be sure to change the year to 2019-2020, accept terms and conditions, then click view awards. Hoping you will find something there.
alliblues - only $50 deposit to apply for housing and they do assign priority based on when they receive the application.
Thank you 1anxiousmom21! My son went into his financials yesterday and changed the year and the scholarship information was there! Much happier mom and son. Now to wait for the housing information.
alliblues- yes my son has 2 other universities that he has applied for and will compare offers soon. UK just happens to be in the top spot right now.
I’ll have my daughter check the financial section when she gets home from school today (thank you all for the info on how to do that!) - but does anyone know if these notifications are all put out simultaneously or if she doesn’t see scholarship information today she should continue to check?
I think I read somewhere in the FAQ for scholarships on their website that it is a “rolling” process so may be dependent on when you applied.
My daughter submitted her application last night, so I presume we have at least a few weeks before we’ll hear anything.
@alliblues mine decided very last minute to apply today! I thought her list of schools had been solidified but she got a mailing from Kentucky that sparked her interest.
Good luck to your daughter!
Good luck to your daughter too!
My son applied 11/28, portal updated last night (12/8) with this acceptance. Now waiting for the official letter with the details to activate his LinkBlue account and hopefully see the scholarship awards.
@proudmom9 and @1anxiousmom21 - Did your kids get any of the competitive (Presidential or Singletary) scholarships?
My son received the Patterson scholarship which is a selective scholarship not a competitive one.
Got the letter in the mail and able to set up DS’s account with the help of previous posts, thank you so much!!! He received the highest Bluegrass spirit award but we are really hoping for the Presidential. He has the ACT score to be considered for the Singletary but his GPA is a smidge under 3.8, so don’t think he will be considered for the Singletary. Does anyone know when will we be notified of Honors College and competitive scholarships?
My son has made his final choice and will be attending The University of Kentucky in the fall of 2019! Go Wildcats!
@proudmom9 - That must feel so good to have made a decision. Congratulations! What were his other options? What was the deciding factor that made him choose Kentucky?
My son received The Patterson Scholarship from UK which is a fantastic scholarship which covers full tuition for 4 years and a 10000/yr stipend for the first 2 years to assist with living expenses. He also received admission to Fordham University in NYC and does not yet have his answer from the University of Toronto, but he no longer wanted to wait. He really loved UK after his visit. The atmosphere was exactly what he was looking for and has so many opportunities for students such as the LLP programs, plenty of music opportunities even for non majors and he simply felt like he fit there.
For those who have received scholarship offers, where did you receive notification (portal, letter, email?)
Portal and then letter in mail
My son received his via the portal first, then by mail 2 days later.
