Yes- I believe the construction will be only on the D1 facilities/section of campus.
This section is off to one contained side of the campus, so hopefully any impact/noise/etc will be limited. The New Balance Rec center/gym is brand new, and shouldn’t be impacted.
Just adding to the discussion for those who haven’t had a chance to visit - VISIT before committing. This was one of my son’s top choices, but really found it to too rural and isolating when visiting - and we’re from a pretty low density area, not exactly big city people. There was a lot to love about the school, and the merit aid was fantastic, but it really gave him middle of nowhere vibe.
A visit is a must! Orono is definitely rural. But, it’s basically the outskirts of Bangor, so not truly middle of nowhere. We live on the east end of Long Island, pretty rural, not easy to access, and I’d say the quick drive to the shopping and restaurants of Bangor is much closer & easier, comparatively. Just another way to look at it!
