University of Maryland-College Park Fall 2017 Transfer Discussion

@eXtremous as soon as I register, my high school transcript status is received. Maybe because I’m international?

so i know earlier someone brought up the possibility of admissions already having their high school transcript because they applied in high school. I applied in hs too. It says in my portal that my hs transcript has been received, but since i’ve already completed over 30 credits i don’t even technically need it to apply, so i’m not exactly sure why they included it in the portal. It must be in their system already. Maybe you could call them and see what’s up

I go to a 4 year university
GPA: 3.67 after 1 semester
16 credits last semester, 17 credits this semester so 33 total credits after this semester
Got an A- on my math credit, currently taking English and have an A
28 on my ACT not sure about other HS stats
In state resident

someone let me know my chances of getting of getting in:
at a 4 year college
3.17 gpa after 1 semester, going to improve a lot of this semester. will have completed 30 credits
havent taken english or math classes
out of state resident
25 ACT
criminal justice major (LEP) but applied to an arts and sciences back up major
pretty strong essay

I wonder how strong 1 semester of a 4.0 speaks. My HS GPA was just a 3.25, I wonder if that’ll kill my application.

@umdquestion I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think you have decreased admissions chances given you haven’t taken or are in-progress of both a math and english credit. UMD has a track record of accepting people with 1 completed and 1 in progress but with neither completed/in-progress it may be an uphill battle for admission. But who knows! I’m not an admissions counselor. Let’s just hope for the best anyways.

@umdquestion I had similar stats last year. Only 15 credits, just a English credit, no math. Around a 2.8 I was denied admission.

4 year University
GPA: 3.18 4 semsters
60 credits after this semester
English credit, math credit in progress next semester
In state resident
Social entrepreneur, I own a popular website and have gotten a lot of attention for my work online.
Applied undecided (although I want to do international affairs)
Chance me

@undecidedtraveler231 when you got denied admission, did they tell you why?
Was it because of the GPA or you not taking the math credit?..or both

@ellieh978 They actually didn’t tell me. I didn’t have 30 credits, I only has 15 so they looked at my high school stuff. I had a very low gpa in high school. But yeah I didn’t have 30 credits + no math credit and probably low gpa.

@undecidedtraveler231 hrm…I read that if you got denied, you can email them and ask them why you were rejected.
What university are you coming from?

@elieheim I rather not reveal, but it’s in the Baltimore area

I have a 3.1 GPA with 58 transferable credits, 2 math credits and 3 english credits. I am graduating with an associates degree in social sciences this May and applied as a psychology major and sociology as a secondary major under priority deadline. Anyone have something similar? or any suggestions?

what are my chances of getting in?
6 AP Credits, 12 credits completed at a 4 year university, 15 in progress right now.
English credit completed and math in progress
3.2 GPA
Decent high school grades (3.7 weighted)
1880 SAT (710 on math)
Decent resume, accounting related internship.

Whats up everyone? Hopefully we found out here soon. I know a lot of people have heard next week but the past years all found out some time within these few days in April (11-14) so I would have to imagine that even though they say next week, we should hear within the next day or two… hopefully.

My stats are all much like yours.
3.5 gpa first semester at 4 year university.
16 credits last semester, 16 this semester.
english and math credits completed.
3.5 weighted hs gpa
a lot of extra curriculars including sports, musicals, clubs, etc

I just found this forum, was looking for one for a while. Last year today, decisions went live hopefully they do the same. I applied to Smith School of Business for accounting entering as a junior. I am really hoping I get in.

Stats:
-3.7 GPA Non-MTAPS MD CC
-3.73 expected GPA by the end of semester
-A & B in the two gateway course (B in Calc, A in Stats)
-Not many ECs (VA volunteer)
-Phi Theta Kappa
-Dean’s List
-2 letters of recommendation: (Business professor and business department head)
-Essay was okay, didn’t put a lot of effort in it.
-DoD intern

Did not provide HS transcript or SAT since I will have an A.S.

Good luck everyone!

So, from what I saw on the previous forums from 2016 (April 13th, 2016 at around 4:45) and then for 2015 it was also around that same time. So I think it’s safe to say we will know by tomorrow the lastest

is anyone seeing the housing glitch

Where do you see the housing glitch?

on the day that people are supposed to get acceptances, the housing link comes up on the application screen and says “admitted students only”
