Hello everyone! I need help picking between these two amazing colleges, and if anyone could offer me insight that would be great! I was born in France, but have lived in Florida most of my life. I go back to France every summer, and I speak French fluently. I was accepted in the arts faculty at McGill, and the College of Arts and Sciences at UM. I don't get any financial aid for Miami, except for Bright Futures and a small scholarship. For McGill I am fortunate enough to pay the instate price because I am French. I just want other people's opinions, so thanks!

Can you give us (tuition+ R&B) - (grants+scholarships) = ?
What’s your parents’ budget? Do they have a preference for you?
Are you looking for a “college experience” (living on campus, lots of activities, football…)
or rather a more academic experience, perhaps something closer to the French “université” system
where students go to class and live in town? Are you very independent or rather need support to do your best?
Do you expect to look for a job in Florida, in Canada, or anywhere in the world?

So my parents are willing to pay for either schools. For UM I get no financial aid and only very little merit aid. My father prefers McGill because of the international population and alumni network. I am not very independent right now, but I hope that I will become more independent through going to college. I would like a job anywhere in the world, nowhere specific. I just can’t decide between the two!

If you’re not already independent, living on your own in a huge city and having to advocate for yourself among hundreds of freshmen may not be the easiest experience. McGill has a more international population but it’s not an easy experience at all -much less suppor than at an American university.
