I’m having trouble picking a college for the fall, and I cant seem to find a whole lot of info regarding the programs I’ve gotten in to. I have been accepted to the both the University of Miami and Northeastern University as an undeclared business major. The problem is that for Northeastern, I am in the Nu in program and have put a deposit down for the Ireland location this fall. If I choose to go to Northeastern, will the fact that I stated out in their Nu in program be held against me once I transfer back to the main campus in the second semester? Will it impact my opportunities for good co ops? Assuming that my tuition is the same for both Northeastern and Miami, which school would I be better off going to this fall? U Miami is looking good right now because of the great social scene and weather, but would I be better off sticking it out for five years at Northeastern, even though I’m in the Nu in program? Thanks in advance for the input.
You will not be at a disadvantage academically of you do NU in. It will not be held against you either. It will not affect co-op opportunities either. You already committed to NU. You must go there now.
First, the May 1 deadline is past. If you deposited at both schools that is unethical and may cause you problems going forward.
NUIn students are not at a disadvantage once the arrive in Boston. You will have the advantage of an international experience that Fall admits do not have. The business program at NU can be done in 4 years and two coops.
If you are interested in a big party scene, then go to Miami.
I take it you did not attend the welcome day events at Northeastern where NUIn alumni were making presentations.
thanks for the quick replies, I really do appreciate it. And as for the deposits, I have only put one in at Northeastern so far. I was on the waitlist for Miami and was accepted off of it just the other day. My deadline to put a deposit down for them is tomorrow, the 4th. I intend on going to Northeastern, and I understand that I’m committed because I put that deposit down. I just wanted to make sure I wasnt at a disadvantage right off the bat there because of the program I got into.
Here are some NU In videos for Ireland
