University of Michigan Class of 2017 Regular Decision

@finalchild- im in the same position, its a little frustrating knowing they must have our decisions! especially since flights are ridiculously expensive when you book short-notice. I wonder why they are “rolling” when clearly there is a d-day coming up at some point…

Finalchild: be careful what you wish for…if history repeats itself (2008,2009,2010etc) you might just get it…

If accepted my family and I will have to book a last minute flight.

Or wait listed…

rodney, not following you…2008, 2009, 2010???

If you mean we will get a wait list, that’s fine. My kid has a handful of really good choices already, so…we would love the problem presented by a UMich acceptance (although we would like it now :), but we can live without it also.

I have 3 colleges to visit already, and 4 to hear back from, and I can’t decide exactly where I’m going to visit until I hear back from everywhere. I know that I will hear back from at least 2 of the 4 by the end of this week, and another is on its way in the mail, but it would be nice to hear back or at least know when I will be hearing back from U Mich, just so that I can prepare and coordinate my travel plans.

do they notify you by email if the decision is out or do you have to keep checking the portal everyday? thanks

finalchild: I was referring to the waitlist; history has proven that responses from UMich that head into the last week in March are predominantly waitlists…so…if history repeats itself, you know the rest…

How hard is it to get off the wait list at University of Michigan?

last year 13,615 people were put on the waitlist. 74 were taken off. so… pretty hard.

Wow! Not very good odds.

but only 4,010 actually accepted the wait list offer

That’s a little better odds but still not great chances.

Ugh… I’d be devastated to be put on the waitlist at all. :(

Ugh. Is this another school that wait lists students who have not shown enough interest or are applying for aid? What do you all know about those variables. I thought that Michigan was a school that did not consider “interest” in its decisions. I don’d know if they are need blind.

Ugh, Yes, I see now from the Common Data Set that showing interest is “considered”. So, if you live far, should you send flowers?

Your level of interest is usually fairly obvious in your essays. If you are interested, it will show.

ive been rejected/waitlisted from all my other schools, except for 3 safety schools. I seriously need michigan or wisconsin to pull through otherwise i’ll be forced to go to college from home. ugh.

does it mean anything if when you click financial document status it says 2014?

Good luck, terribleusername!
