I know that they are the same list, but is it bad if I got a extended waitlist versus a automatic placement on the their waitlist? Also, there seems like a very slim chance of getting an acceptance once your waitlisted…this sucks.

is there anyone still haven’t received the decision yet… i still got no decision…

There’s no separate waitlist versus an extended waitlist. There’s just one. All students have to accept the offer to be placed on the “extended waitlist”. There’s no automatic placement.

Waitlisted with a 2400 SAT, 36 ACT, and a 4.0. brb finding a lawyer

they didn’t email decisions, but are on wolverine access

waitlisted from my top three choices, including mich.

@Briangreen: I got in with a 1800 SAT in engineering. International here though.

is that only me or what… how come i still don’t hv any decision yet… i hv been looking at my wolverine account for like 20 times…

Accepted at Columbia, waitlisted here. Decisions work in mysterious ways.

Waitlisted here too (extended) …
Do you guys think it would help if we send in additional material now? say like, an essay or an extra rec? would that help the person move up the list?

@ParceledTounge, Same here!! Case gave me a HUGE scholarship and waived my deposit! Seems like the most affordable at the moment, but…Cleveland :/

They sent me an email too! (I was waitlisted) And it said …“we know this is a disappointment, perhaps more so because of your family’s association with the University”… - Both my parents are alumni. But does this seem kind of strange to anyone? I didn’t know how to react to that sentence lol

@littlemeow, it’s a bit standard for many legacies who aren’t accepted to a particular college or university. To deter the “Don’t they know who we are?!” reactions that many angry parents might have after years of loyalty and possible contribution to a college, adcoms tend to note that considerations of legacy status were given and respectfully acknowledged during the process. They’re noting they were aware of your legacy status and didn’t intend to overlook or disrespect it. Basically a ‘No hard feelings,’ message because parents of legacies tend to be more expectant and too-often, alumni relationships with the college are jeopardized by these unfortunate situations.

Ugh… waitlisted. Screw it, it was a good run, but I guess I’m going to State! :/

The conventional wisdom is that to get off the waitlist it really helps to show intense interest in Michigan. Pretty much everything this side of stalking the admissions department. I would suggest numerous emails, maybe showing up for admitted students day, anything to let the admissions office know that UM is your No. 1 choice. I know last year, some guy made a parody song about UM about how badly he wanted to go Michigan and he got in. (The song is posted here on CC somewhere.) Good luck

did anyone else not receive a decision yet? what decision does that mean we are likely to get?

@collmemaybe me…

Waitlisted as well! 2180 SAT, 3.92 UW GPA, oos. Applied to the College of Engineering. Probably won’t be taking it up.

@spikew oh ok thank you. sorry just thought it a bit strange haha

Waitlisted for college of engineering but accepted at Harvard. 35 ACT 3.99 GPA tons of presidencies, awards, etc. Michigan done goofed here.

Rejected This was my first choice. Oh well, knew my sats weren’t good enough

Rejected:((( it was nice to hear back before April, though
