University of Michigan RD class of 2020 thread

@grimx98 Yeah, it’s incredibly stress-inducing. I don’t like how nebulous this process is at all. On the other hand, at least they post the decisions online–I have to wait for my UPitt decision by snailmail :frowning: Is UMichigan the top choice for you guys, or are you just waiting out the decision to see what it is?

It’s not my top choice, so I’m just waiting to see what the decision is. Regardless, I’m anxious. I doubt I’m getting into any of my reach schools, so I just want a bigger pool of acceptances to choose from.

Anyways, it’s already Friday morning and WA has not changed for me. I find it weird that they’re not following their usual pattern, unless results come out closer to late morning/12pm

@theorigin It’s not my “top choice” because I need to wait for Cornell… but since I have a very small chance I really hope to get into U Mich!!! I guess it’s my realistic “top choice”
So far I get into Boston University and UC Davis

@grimx98 We are exactly in the same boat . I have been accepted to UC Davis and Boston but also to UTD . I am also waiting for Cornell but there is a low chance so I also am waiting for Michigan!

@tiwari124 OMG, we are really in the same boat! I really have no idea where to go!! I’ll major in Physics, and UC Davis and BU seems both top school for that… Do you have any clue where to attend? (if you don’t get into any of your top choices, i mean)

Probably UC Davis because I wanna major in Computer Engineering and Davis is one of the top schools in the field but Boston is more reputed overall! I am hoping I am accepted to Michigan so that I am not stuck in this dilemma!

@Tiwari2011 Same for me… BU has a bit more prestige worldwide, but for Physics UCD would be a bit better, not to mention the great research opportunities! But at the same time, BU is in Boston, one of the greatest college cities in the world…however, UCD’s campus is so beatiful and it would defenitly be the more exciting collee experience… But is kinda in the middle of nowhere…

Oh well!! I hope to meet you either at UCD or BU!

(Or maybe, Cornell or Umich!!!)

During the time when I was applying, I had opted for UMich as a safety…Now it feels like a match or even reach for me. :((

@blazedragon I totally did not appreciate my umich acceptance on March 4th enough. I also thought it was basically a target school but this year target schools are reaches and reaches are close to impossible without a hook. This year seems to be one of the most competitive ever. I am unhooked and so grateful for umich. I will probably be attending…I hope you get in soon!!!

@blazedragon Same here. I’ve been rejected by GaTech (which I live thirty minutes from) and JHU, and most recently GHP (the summer program) here in Georgia. And even more, the more I looked into Umich (even before these rejections) the more I wanted to go there. Sigh.

i know how you guys feel… I’m an international student so is even harder for me! :frowning:

@grimx98 I am an international too, and nowI realise, the schools that I applied to as safety/matches, are probably going to be reaches, and my reach schools (about 70% of my apps :(( ) are probably just daydreams. :((
But still, hope is a funny thing. It still persists!

Has anyone in California received their decision? I applied for LSA.

Remember it’s a holiday today… so the schedule might be a little off

@blazedragon hey fellow international! Tell me about it… I applied to 14 schools, probably all reaches with few matches. This year was brutal, I’m actually very glad that 2 schools already accepted me

when do decisions come out???

@mylifeisgone195 i live in ca and i got my decision on march 4

Did you apply for EA? I am also from California.

May I ask your stats? Thanks.

Im from norcal, applied on the deadline, and so far nada.
