I was waitlisted for UROP as an incoming freshman. I was wondering what my chances are of getting accepted. There is a professor who wants to work for me, but his lab can only take me if I join UROP.
I know people who got off the waitlist for urop. Also urop is pretty time consuming and its pretty easy to find lead time consuming reaearch
Do you know a lot of people who were waitlisted and rejected?
My advice for you is to write to the UROP program expressing your continued interest, and perhaps name drop the professor who wants to work with you (speak to the professor ahead of time so they are not caught off-guard). Be very careful in how you word the email(s).
Write to UROP, and let the prof know you’ve been wait listed. Definitely tell UROP you have a prof willing to take you…it might make a big difference. No harm in trying. It’s a fantastic program. And if you don’t get in this year, try next year.
Yes its easier to get in sophomore year
I explicitly stated that in my application, actually.
My daughter was waitlisted and eventually got in, so don’t lose hope.
