Hey guys! I'm interested in umich and unc, but I don't know that much about academics and the social scene at umich. If anyone has any personal experiences or feedback in general I would really appreciate it! Thanks :)

Both schools are known as part of the “public ivies”, along with Virginia, Cal-Berkeley and ? Can’t go wrong academically with either.

UMich is blended into the town of Ann Arbor and has great campus…well, north campus is kind of off on its own.

Definitely worth touring both, and now would be a good time too as you’ll likely see the worst of the weather on both campuses.

UNC is significantly cheaper, unless you are a resident of Michigan, or if Michigan gives you a generous scholarship/FA. That is something to consider. Unless you wish to major in Engineering, UNC is on par with Michigan.

Hi Ivyparent, have you checked out our U of MI parent only FB page?

You should…If you will have a student attending the U of M then you must join.
Just search University of Michigan Parents and our administrator will accept you. It is a closed group of 300 plus members.

My wife and I both went to U of M. Have close relative going there now too, but our S is going ivy next year. Thanks for the offer to join your FB group but we’re not a fit for the group.

Okay…thank you, I read your post incorrectly.
