University of Pittsburgh Vs. Temple University (Liberal Arts)

Hi everyone, I am coming down to the wire in terms of choosing a school and Temple and Pitt are some of my final options. I have been accepted into both of their liberal arts colleges (titled differently at each school.) I am not sure what I am going into yet but am considering Environmental Studies, Economics, History, and Philosophy. Can anyone comment on the strengths of each school in these areas/which school is better in general in these areas? Anyone with any type of knowledge would be a huge help. Also, I have been accepted into the honors programs at each of these schools so if you have any knowledge of those, I would be grateful to hear. Thank you so much!

Pitt

Pitt would be consider the better school overall though I’m not sure if Temple might be better in some of the areas you are interested in studying. They are both urban school but there’s a big difference in Pittsburgh and Philly. UPitt’s located in a better section of Pittsburgh than Temple is in Philly though that area is improving.

What are your costs? Did you visit both because I would think you’d have a preference pretty easily if you visited both.

Pitt’s philosophy dept is ranked highly. Honors college at Pitt offers you honors sections of some courses and Honors LLC for housing but is not the kind of honors college that offers an exclusive separate experience. Pitt’s Oakland neighborhood is fairly safe, rents pretty inexpensive and your ID gives you free transport via the busing system throughout the city.
