This is our main "backup/safety" school. We lreally like the sounds of the program & are probably going to visit & see if my D can maybe sit in on a class.

Anyone know anything about it?
Thanks!

Please share your info and opinions after your visit. I am also curious. Thanks!

I don’t know much about the theatre program, but I have two friends (twins) that are current freshmen there as science majors. They both don’t like it and are looking to transfer. Most of their dislike is due to the safety issues and social life on campus - one twin’s roommate was date raped during her first few weeks there. They effectively scared me out of applying.

Here’s what I did ( and I know that this is not scientific or anything like that ) but once my D was admitted to their BFA program I joined the URI 2018 FB page… take a peek. It might help you get a feel for the kids who would be your son’s peers….

daniellececelia, I’m so sorry for your friend, what happened to her is incredibly sad and scary.
My son was interested in URI after visiting and seeing a main stage show in the fall. He took a tour of the performing arts building, it’s old, but it has a large black box and a very nice main stage theater. He met some students that were in the show and they raved about the program, but he hasn’t observed a class.
