My son’s portal (Honors tab) was updated on 2/14. Email arrived the next day.
@romns116 Which Moody school did you son get into?
My daughter also got a CAP spot at UTSA. Do you know if there are any groups where these CAP students can find other CAP students also going in the Fall?
@lltjenkins my DD also got a CAP spot at UTSA. We are pretty sure she will go this route but is waiting on one other school. Once confirmed I plan to start a UT CAP UTSA thread. I’ve read where UTSA helps put CAP students together in the Dorms, if requested. That’s what I’m hoping for.
@ltjenkins and @TXDad56 my daughter has also accepted her UTSA CAP offer. She has a room in Alvarez in the Leadership & Service community.
@txpublic so I’m assuming she’s already paid the application fee and it’s a done deal, which allowed her to sign up for housing?
@TXDad56 yes, she paid the application fee and was able to reserve housing. She has a room assigned in Alvarez already. I should mention that I think she was able to reserve housing because she had already applied to UTSA in addition to UT which meant the UTSA housing option was open to her even before she got CAPPED. I am not sure if she could have reserved housing this soon or not, otherwise.
OK so I’ve gone ahead and started a new thread under UT Austin (since the focus is going to UT Austin I put it there instead of the ‘Other UT schools non Austin’) I named it “UT CAP to UTSA Class of 2023”. Hoping we attract other lurkers.

Mine applied for housing as well before UT sent the CAP info over to UTSA. You don’t have to be accepted to do pay the housing fee to sign up. Her date to pick her room is 2/28. She’s wanting Laurel or Chaparral and would love to find another CAP student to room with!
Crickets …
@dogwood18 Just found this schedule re the Family Orientation. Notice it says it is not required for parents. https://parents.utexas.edu/freshman-family-orientation
Also, note that depending on the college you’re in, the registration date may be different.
There’s also more information about orientation throughout that page.
So is it pretty much safe to assume that if an international student has not received an admission by now, he or she is pretty much rejected???
@srparent15 thank you for sharing that link. Yes, I had seen that information on the website, and the info re: the particular dates for each department, but appreciate the link too.
Just to clarify, I was wondering specifically how out of state students typically handle orientation (or how they are handled by the university, if differently, if that makes sense). Are the out of state kids typically coming down by themselves to do orientation or do their parents typically attend (since they have to navigate getting to and from the airport in a city they don’t know, etc.)?
I am basically weighing having him navigate getting there solo (which obviously he will have to do soon after). vs. the added expense and potential benefit of course of a parent going with him. I suspect that even though it’s only 1 day of parent “stuff” that it would probably be nice to get some information and make some connections since we live so far away. And of course, exploring Austin!
Anyway, was just wondering what was more “typical” if anyone has OOS friends or experience who’s on the thread.
@dogwood18 I think either way is fine. Austin is easy to navigate from the airport to UT. Uber, Ride Austin, and Lyft are everywhere, so make sure you have one on his phone. Austin is super fun to visit, so if you can join him, you will not be bored. I live in Austin, so feel free to pm me if you want specific infoformation.
I’m an international applicant and have been thinking the same.?
March 1 I believe is the deadline. You should hear something either way and the notifications seem to come out on Fridays so two more rounds most likely. Good luck.
and today is Friday - good luck to all who haven’t heard.
Still crickets … anyone hear anything at all today?
I am taking a poll - who is waiting on just admission decision; who is waiting on just honors decision; and, who is waiting on both admission and honors? I am curious how many more decisions are actually out there to be made.
