If it makes anyone feel better - 4 years ago for the class of 2019 (my UT senior engineer now) - mid february NO ONE had heard a thing about admissions yet. Something like a release around 2/23 and honors came out about a week after March 1st. I think that caused numerous complaints as things were changed after that.
I just called admissions. The woman I spoke to said that if you applied before Nov 1st you should hear tonight. She thought it would be around 7:00. And she said a large amount of OOS decisions are in there.
YIKES… the non-transparency of UT’s admission process is definitely distressing. Hate that have to wait for such a long time to receive a likely rejection
does anyone know if colleges release all of their decisions at one time? For example will the school of nursing release all of their acceptances/rejections in the same wave?
Are they releasing all decisions today, including RD? or only EA
Should only be EA, RD is March 1
Portal keeps changing? Why?
how is it changing?
They probably wait until 7pm to make sure all kids - even west coast - are out of school …
We need to review your transcripts which they got months ago before we make your decision. Now it’s gone?
If I get waitlisted, I will be so pumped! So hard to get in OOS!
@calspeed That message appeared just last week for me. It was gone within 24 hours. I talked to my counselor about it and she just said they were probably reviewing my transcripts at that point in time.
@calspeed that “glitch” has been reported by a number of others over the past month … doesn’t seem to mean anything.
It is not a glitch, it appears when someone is uploading the midterm grades and therefore updating the file.
Totally forgot to ask which timezone!! Oops, I’m on the eastcoast so I automatically was thinking EST, but she most likely meant Central. Shoot…there’s an extra hour of waiting!!! :))
UT Austin Admissions (@bealonghorn) replied to another tweet saying "you should receive notification by the of the day). Honestly, how hard would it be to qualify “end of day”? Admissions workday at 5pm central? 11:59:59pm?? 7pm central to accommodate PST? Pretty disappointed in the UT experience and that is very hard for this Longhorn diehard to say.
I agree @nrvsmom I think they would save themselves so much aggravation and unnecessary phone calls if they were just open about it. My son just got an email from another college today letting him know decisions will be posted Fri, Feb 8 at 6:00. He’s had a mixture of random and exact notification, and I much prefer the exact date and time!!
@prouddad2020 it has nothing to do with uploading new grades - it happened to my son and 4 others i know and none of them were uploading new grades.
or reviewing the files. I saw it happen a couple times when they are checking files. That was my guess.
So 2 hours left if they’re talking about 5 pm and 7 hours if they release them at midnight (uff). Whatever time it is, decisions are looming upon us, good luck!!!
