@collegemom111111 same here, D’s portal remains ‘in review’ for dean’s scholars. Would like to know if anyone got today.
@Suave123 Sounds like we’re in the same boat. Some seem to have received good news, and we’re still waiting. Best wishes to you and yours.
@collegemom111111 thanks and best wishes to yours too !!!
rejected but now it says OOS - We’re not OOS, we’re in state, military stationed elsewhere. Worth calling?
If you are in the honors tab, click the details button next to where it says ‘we’re still reviewing your xxx honors application.’ That is where the ‘need more time’ messages are appearing.
rejected OOS McCombs applicant. 35 ACT, 4.5 W GPA, 10.6 percentile rank, 2 year captain of Varsity softball and president of german honor society. Parents, cousins & uncles are all UT grads. Feeling sorry that I can’t continue the Longhorn legacy.
@TheNewColossus don’t feel sorry- unfortunately this is happening a lot. My in-state child is in the same boat. Even in-state applicants that were auto admit, within top 6 percent, got rejected from their choice majors. With outstanding activities. OOS it’s almost impossible. Your resume looks great. Time to start a new tradition at a new great school! Best of luck to you!
I am personally aware of several low, low stat kids admitted…not auto admits. And many kids with super high stats from the same school not admitted. And there are two , not qualified but had influential connections with UT admitted with lower stats. Terrible system
Rejected OOS with a 4.7/5 and a 33 on the ACT, however I had perfect scores on everything except the math section and applied as an English major to the school. Totally thought I was gonna get in.
I dearly wanted Austin admission from oos, but I know it’s iffy. Disappointed but expected given competition and less seats. I have 2 acceptances in CS and EE and waiting for few more. I will have to move on and succeed. All the best for everyone. Whoever rejected and their parents, don’t lose determination and we will succeed. I am definitely determined to learn and make best out of college
@cshigh you are exactly right.
I am a parent that has been watching this thread for a current hs junior. Those of you that were rejected, you definitely cannot take this as a personal rejection. Your profiles are amazing and you will succeed no matter where you end up. UT just doesn’t have enough spots, and there might not be a rhyme or reason. A good life lesson, which based on the maturity you all demonstrated in your applications (you can’t not be mature and have such strong profiles!), you of course know this already.
Good luck to all of you!
Denied Dean’s Scholars admission. Declining my Bio slot in CNS for full-ride at Baylor. Best of luck to all!
x
@collegemom111111 @Suave123 My daughter was denied Dean’s last night, but she’s fine with that. When we clicked the honors tab, the note had changed to something like we are not able to offer you admission to Dean’s. After looking back over the Dean’s description several days ago, she probably had not really demonstrated an interest in research through her EC’s. She is in to CNS Biology & very happy with that. She has a few OOS apps out still but most likely will be attending UT. Y’all are still being considered, so good luck!
I think the lower test scores for auto-admit might be misleading. For the most part, it’s not an accident that these kids are at the top of their class. If they know that they are auto-admit and a Texas University is what they want, what’s the motivation for spending extra time preparing for the SAT/ACT or for taking the tests multiple times? None, whereas everyone else is working hard to get all of their stats up to be competitive.
Has anyone received notification of acceptance to Health Science Scholars? Applied priority, admitted Plan II, but still waiting to hear back from HSS. Checked portal last night and found that they need more time to review my application. Anyone hear anything different?
@StraightOuttaTX So you got admitted to Plan II, which is a major, but have not heard from the college you applied to? Interesting. Can’t remember seeing that before, but certainly possible given Plan II is also a major.
@TXDad56 Sorry!–Should have made that more clear. I was admitted to CNS Public Health along with admission in December, heard about Plan II mid-Jan., still waiting for HSS. Also, general question for anyone and everyone: How may I submit an updated mid-year transcript/report to the university? I feel as though doing so would only help my cause since my honors app. is still in review.
Our school submitted through naviance (mid year report)
My school uses Parchment, but it doesn’t seem to update my transcript with mid-year grades. I suppose an official email endorsed by my counselor to the University containing the mid-year report/transcript would not be accepted?
