There was a confirmed acceptance to McCombs one or two days ago on reddit
May I have reddit link please?
@JonnyF its the r/UTAustinAdmissions community. Just type that in the search box for reddit and you will find it. Thereâs a megathread setup for the admissions wave and I think thatâs where someone mentioned the mccombs admittance. It was initially reported in the a2c reddit page.
Thanks @txstateomind! I found one link in CC which also mentioned one kid got accepted into major.

@JonnyF That was COLA (Liberal Arts).
My daughter is a freshman in Canfield BHP and it is a long process. And yes, it is a separate process as she knows of many people that were extended an interview but then werenât accepted into UT. That to me is a real flaw in the process. There are also people that donât get accepted and then question why, even with their great stats. Theyâre looking for a certain type of student/personality and they do generally ask the same 5 or so questions. She was accepted to McCombs in early December in the first batch of OOS acceptances last year (this year they have already occurred so they are ahead of the game). She applied in mid October and by the end of October for BHP.
She was not contacted for her interview until February, by which time she had already committed to BHP. She also was not interviewed by an alumni but one of the BHP advisors directly, so that was a little more scary for her, but a great opportunity. She had previously interviewed at University of Michigan which was great experience for this interview, so if you have other college interviews, take advantage of them as they will ease your nerves.
So far she is loving everything about school. She has not had any difficulty getting courses, but a lot of her friends did because they needed to take Econ (she had already taken both Micro and Macro in high school) and she didnât need to take the Calc sequence because she also had taken through Calc 3 in high school. If you donât earn a 5 on Calc BC you do need to take Calculus and thatâs real difficult for some. Hence, she is only taking her GenEd requirements this semester and 1 BHP class which has really been good for her.
Feel free to ask any questions as it is interesting to have this perspective for having a student at a large public school as I also have a daughter who chose to attend an Ivy League school and it really is interesting to see how things work between the two schools.
Good luck to all!
i also got a bhp interview email on 11/23. i applied to ut on 9/3 and submitted honors app on 9/16. in state auto admit, 4% rank at very competitive public school, 1550 sat, 14 aps (all 5s and one 4), national merit semifinalist, national ap scholar, president of multiple clubs, law firm internship, td ameritrade internship, started esl classes, bpa state qual, works 20 hrs/wk, selective govât internship (one of 20 selected out of 700, recognized by texas supreme court and texas house for efforts), trilingual, other volunteering, yale young global scholars alum
@lenniesmall Thanks for sharing!
Anyone heard anyone got admitted to Major and/or BHP?
I saw on Twitter that two girls were accepted to McCombs on 11/22 I believe. As for CBHP, it might still be too early for any acceptances. I havenât heard anything yet, but for last yearâs thread the earliest acceptances noted were on 12/17 so Iâm hoping once itâs December decisions will start coming out.
If I submitted my BHP app on 10/24 should I be concerned that I have not received an invitation for an interview?
I also submitted around that time. Getting nervous that I havenât received anything yet
@TheDarkWizard682 According to BHP they send out invites in waves and invitations still go out after the holidays. I wouldnât worry yet and interviews can go out as late as mid January.
Thanks for detailed info⊠Seems like UT process is adhoc
My undertsanding from BHP info session in summer is You apply to McCombs and all these accepted into McCombs would be sent to BHP for review
Based on your experience it looks like it would be possible to be accepted into BHP and get reject into McCombs
Thanks for the info
@TheDarkWizard682 Also, I want to let you know that I know of a student that applied several weeks earlier than you and he just got his invite to interview so thereâs no telling how they are deciding on who is in what wave.
Thanks so much @Jennibc that relieves some stress
@chitownseniormom - My OOS daughter completed UT and honors app October 15th and was contacted for an interview, which took place last week.
Hey Guys! I got accepted into Regs Mccombs today, does anyone know if this means they are no longer considering me for BHP? Or do I still have a good chance of getting an interview offer? One person I know got an interview, but wasnât accepted to Mccombs before hand so I am worried that this means I am not considered for BHP anymore. I applied November 1st exactly if that has anything to do with it! Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Check your honors tab at the top of my status. I was just admitted to McCombs but my BHP app is still in review. I was, however, offered a bhp interview on November 10. I did it on Nov 12th. I applied early October. I think no one has been admitted yet to bhp, but I could be wrong. It would seem BHP would have had enough time to review my interview (the last step), but the batch is not out yet. My speculation anyways.
