Congrats to all getting in after long grueling wait!!! Well deserved! And Best of luck to those still waiting. Now maybe we should start exchanging ideas on why choosing U of T vs other Univs. Hopefully the discussions help us make a wise decision on where we finally go.
I will get started. I choose U of T because
Challenging learning environments though at times hard to handle but it will reward you in the long run if you survive. It is academically one of the most rigorous in Canada and will prepare you for graduate study and beyond if you choose to continue study. I know many students get into top US universities (in Harvard, MIT, Princeton, etc) for advanced degrees.
High quality education but reasonably cost (US $26K for engineering if you are Canadian, Arts and Science even lower <20K) compared to most of the US schools which costs US$ 50K-70K. Unfortunately for non-Canadian, it could be higher.
High reputation in many latest global university rankings (overall - US News (20), QS (28), Shanghai(23), THE (21)). The subject ranking is high across most of the programs as well. That allows you have all-around good education if you choose to venture out into other programs for elective courses.
If in engineering, you can do PEY (Professional Engineer Year) where you can work for 12-16 month full time with average pay of $50K after junior year.
U of T is in a great diverse city with many festivals and great food!
I am from the U.S. and was recently admitted to arts and sciences with a membership at the Victoria College. I had a pretty high GPA but my SAT scores were slacking undoubtedly. I am still waiting to hear back from McGill. If there is one thing to value during this process it is patience and hope. I really wasn’t sure of my admission but I ended up getting in which says a lot and I am thrilled. To those who are waiting- good things are yet to come no matter where you go.
Admitted to ArtSci at Victoria college for CS. But no any scholarship information is included. I am wondering the scholarships need to apply separately. Does anyone has idea? Thanks
Please i am from Nigeria…A non IB student… am curious as to how i will be evaluated especially considering the fact that on my Joinid portal, i wasn’t asked to upload my Sat scores and all of that.
Hope you don’t mind if i ask @MrRobot2018 whether these documents were requested from you. I did totally appreciate a reply.Thank you so much in advance.
Does anyone know if I have to wait until May to get my decision since I am an International applicant (US) and I submitted on January 14. I also applied to Trinity and I believe my essays are strong - I believe question #2 has one of my strongest essays yet.
Major: Faculty of Arts and Sciences: Human Biology: Neuroscience
College: Trinity College
GPA 4.00 Out of 5.00 (Very Low I know)
ACT: 31 Writing: 08
IB Diploma Student
Stellar ECs (Possibly strongest point on application) (Have a research paper working alongside professor at Johns Hopkins strongly relating to my major of choice)
I’m really afraid I have no chance as a lot of colleges require responses by May 1 and even though U of T is my first choice I’m not sure I can risk waiting till may if I have no chance.
