so it says my application is under review. Any idea on how long it will take for them to get back to me? i submitted my app around Christmas.

On the website it says it might take several weeks for the status to change…

Yesterday my status changed from ‘Under review’ to ‘Decision pending’. Can anyone explain to me what this means, because I am quite worried.

It means your decision is pending… What exactly is there not to understand?

Does that mean further review is required, or that they are about to make the decision?

Pending; Arriving imminently. No further review will be required for your application.

My online status is still ‘Under Review’ but the department have contacted me direct by email to offer me a place (MA Classics)…not sure what to make of this, other than to be quite pleased!

^^^Congrats! I am sure you’ll love U of T and Toronto itself.

Just received an email from uft saying that ive been accepted! I am extremely happy Hopefully majoring in mechanical engineering

guys i have a 91 in toefl (26 speaking/21 writing/21 reading/23 listening)…should i send them this grade??? please reply as soon as possible

My daughter applied to U of T in December (2011). They responded that they required her second quarter transcripts before they’d assess her application package. The transcripts were sent electronically by her school, as well in traditional post, in early February.

When my daughter checked the progress of her application package online at the U of T Website recently, it still indicated the submission was “incomplete.” Both she and the school counselor have repeatedly attempted to contact U of T Admissions by email and phone, without success.

I understand it’s a busy time of year for them, but is it really so busy that they cannot respond in some fashion? Sadly, U of T is my daughter’s first choice for university - and I say sadly because it appears that they lack a sense of responsiveness to basic interrogatories from their customers, i.e., the applicants.

I have to say I was impressed with the school and its programs & facilities during a visit last year, but this recent development certainly doesnt square with my initial assessment.

Anyone else sensing that the Admissions office is unresponsive?

Thanks to my daughter’s aggressive and persistent counselor, the U of T admissions folks finally surfaced and acknowledged receit of the transcripts, and that, in sort of a show of good faith, they would ‘fast-track’ her materials through the admissions process. My take on this is that they should complete their review of the materials and make a decision within a week or two.

I am impressed with their efforts. Here’s hoping the news is favorable!

So, my daughter was accepted for Fall, 2012. She’s less-than-thrilled that she wasn’t assigned to Victoria College (her first choice). Anyone ever heard of applicants contacting the university after acceptance and requesting a change of college? Certainly not everyone they offer admission to accepts the offer, so presumably there would be a few slots at Vic left open?

Just wondering if it would be worth her while to contact the Admissions Office and ask…

If your daughter wasn’t accepted into Victoria College, and it was her first choice, it’s not going to help you to contact them and try to get it changed. They consider you first for your top choice, and if they decided your daughter wasn’t qualified enough for their college they aren’t going to accept her. . .it’s based more off of academic record, activities, etc. than it is based off of availability of rooms.

Well, I guess my daughter’s disappointment with Toronto’s college assignment was complete; she’s decided to accept McGill’s offer and will be headed there this Fall. I thought Totonto was a great school, and I’m somewhat saddened that she won’t be attending. Oh well…

Um, what’s the deal with all these different colleges? I thought it was just St. George, mississauga, and Scarborough as the main U of T campuses.

The only time I’ve heard of Victoria and Trinity college was when I was selecting residence choices. Could someone explain all these different “college” choices to me? I’m a bit confused…thanks :)

I did select Chestnut and Innis as my top choices, even though I don’t really have a clue what to choose.

There’s a good summary of U of T’s college system on Wikipedia at:

[University of Toronto - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](University of Toronto - Wikipedia)

Essentially, the colleges are universities within the university. Smaller slices of the university, so to speak. Thus:

“Unlike most North American institutions, the University of Toronto is a collegiate university with a model that resembles those of the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford in Britain.[43] The colleges hold substantial autonomy over admissions, scholarships, programs and other academic and financial affairs, in addition to the housing and social duties of typical residential colleges.”

The U of T Website says of the colleges:

"The college system dates back to the earliest days of the U of T and remains one of the universitys most distinctive features today. Each of the seven colleges on the St. George campus is a unique community of scholars and students within the Faculty of Arts & Science.

Every Arts & Science student is a member of a college. Whether a student lives in residence or commutes to campus, their college is like a familiar neighbourhood, bringing together people who may know each other for a lifetime.

Each college has its own culture and all of them provide core services for their students, including academic and financial counseling, accommodation, orientation, scholarships and bursaries, and social gatherings. Many students discover that their college is one of the most important factors in their university experience."

OH…well damn. I thought they were just dorms so I just picked random ones. Hopefully it won’t be that big of a deal. I can switch residences after a year hopefully…

Oh wait, this is only for arts and science students? I’m going as an Engineering student, so is this not that big of a deal? I hear that most engineers end up at Chestnut residence anyways, and since that’s one of the choices I indicated on my housing application, I’m pretty sure that’s what they’re giving me.

Do any of you guys know how long it takes for the University of Toronto to ask for a high-school transcript or an IB diploma predicted score? As of right now, I have already received an email from the school to ask me to enable my JoinID, which I already have; I received that email on 11/21 and activated my JoinID the following day.
