I got into the St George campus, faculty of arts and sciences!
I applied the earliest (by nov 1 2018) and got my acceptance at the end of Feb. In the beginning of April I received an email saying that I was awarded the Faculty of Arts & Science Dean’s International Excellence Award, which is a scholarship for $50k for the first year. Did anyone else get this award? I’m not sure why I received this and how I qualified
Also, does anyone know when we will hear back from residences?
Anyone received notifications from LBP?
I just got rejected by the scholarship yesterday morning.
Still waiting for a decision from engsci.
Any A levels students (preferably CIE board) who got accepted into engsci? If yes, may I know your grades and EC as well?
@uoft2023aaa First of all, congratulations on your award. Could you please share your grades?
I’m just wondering will being rejected by the LBP affect my application? Like will they think that I’ll not go without the scholarship and so they don’t accept me?
I don’t think so @Blablablablah to be perfectly honest. They only have 10 or so spots to award it to students. They won’t not accept every other international student who applied to the school. In addition, you are the one who applied to the school, indicating that you are interested in it. Therefore, they wouldn’t not accept you because they know you won’t go because you did not get the scholarship. It is just not how it works. If they did not accept you, it means your marks are simply not competitive enough.
@snowykitkat I just emailed and asked the recruitment officer about that problem and asked if they will consider a students financial support too?
Hey guys, been lurking on this thread for a while. I applied to arts and sci in November but all my documents weren’t recieved until like February(late I know). Anyways I’m based in the US so does anyone know when the portal is usually updated?? My status has said application under review for a while now.
By when I mean like what time it’s usually updated.
@orange5389 If you look through the thread, there’s a lot of 105F applicants (including myself) waiting for a decision. Enrollment at art sci said we will receive our decision before May 1st so all we can do is hold tight unfortunately.
@Blablablablah yeah that works.
@affadav Thanks! I take the IB program so my transcript (grades 9-12) and predicted grades were the only thing they considered in my application. I’m predicted a 39. Grades from grade 9 are average in my opinion, ranging from 5-7s (ib score)
Did anyone get their offer of residency yet?
@snowykitkat I am a bit confused with that process. I got into Vic, and declared my interest in residence in March. I cannot understand how one applies for single/double room and which building. The site only has two options: Victoria and Chestnut, nothing else. Hmmm… Do you know anything more than this?
They said they should send you a message when an offer of residency can be made. Did you apply for residency in Vic or elsewhere like Chestnut (as in, which did you rank as your first choice?) @affadav
@affadav Residence assignments usually come in the summer. You won’t get to choose a building at Victoria College or whether or not you get a single or double. This website has more info. http://www.vic.utoronto.ca/students/residence/Residence_Admissions/Room_Assignments.htm
@snowykitkat First years are guaranteed a spot in residence as long as they filled out the MyRes form. Your college will have a separate lifestyle form to fill out as well. Your residence assignment will come in the summer.
@bouders do you know when the lifestyle form comes out? I got accepted into Woodsworth but I applied for residency in UC. Do you know the likelihoods for that happening, or will I most likely end up in Chestnut? Do you know if I get to choose a building if I got accepted for residency at UC?
@snowkitkat Sorry, I don’t know the ins and outs of Woodsworth and UC residence. I would guess it all depends on how many Woodsworth students apply for UC residence. I’ve never heard of first years being able to choose their building or room though.
Hey guys my engineering portal now shows a decision is pending, what does that mean? How long do I still need to wait for decision?
@Blablablablah It looks like Mid-May. Most of the information I’m seeing says the only faculty that’s behind is Artsci so you should expect the normal schedule and receive a decision in the May round.
@Vikarious just now my Join u of t portal suddenly changed from application received to refused but my engineering portal still shows a decision is pending for your application. The “a decision is pending for your application” was just there for a night.
