Thank you all for this information. It is weird–my son has not gotten any info from the U about Honors Yes or No. The Honors website says the decisions will be released mid-Jan to coincide with general admissions. He emailed a U college admissions officer who said Honors decisions will be released in February. So if I had not been on this thread with you all-I would just assume wait until February. But clearly some decisions have been released. So it’s a bit frustrating.
Also, if you are on FB I suggest joining the UofU parents group. A lot of great info on there. University of Utah Parent Discussion Group | Facebook
One more thing, GPA for merit scholarships is unweighted.
I had the same concern until I asked a similar question on the U of U parents’ group on Facebook. Someone pointed out that the Honors priority deadline was Nov 1. My daughter applied in mid-November for the early action deadline of December 1st. I guess we will have to wait until February for a decision.
I believe that’s the scholarship chart for Utah State, not UofU
Thank you. But we actually DID apply by Nov. 1 to make the priority deadline. So they should tell us something? Unless something got screwed up. Ugh.
It says University of Utah though.
Email admissions and ask. UofU messes up from time to time but they’re pretty great if you reach out to them.
My daughter applied for the December 1 deadline, got her acceptance to the university in the mail and email
on Tuesday 1/18, and then an email only accepting her to the Honors College today 1/21. It seems a little mixed up, but I guess the information will all come in time.
Oh wow, that’s great! I hope the others who were hoping for honors acceptance also get good news.
Anyone hear anything on merit? I was expecting it to be posted today.
Has anyone had trouble with their Umail after submitting their enrollment deposit? Mine says that their is no mailbox for my account. Admissions said it might be because they haven’t activated my account yet.
I haven’t found anything online for Accepted students days. I called and asked (i think it was a student worker) and she said they never do them? Is that true?
No, pre-pandemic they did an accepted students day in late March IIRC. I believe there was a separate honors student day as well. No idea if any of that will happen this year.
The biggest challenge on timing with Utah is the need to choose dorms in late March, before some have made a final decision. So it can be advisable to visit relatively early. One potential benefit is that it’s ski season…
Merit scholarship emails rolling in? Son received WUE discount 14k/yr offer in email today
Same for my S22 - WUE of $14k/yr
Supposedly there will be 2 accepted student days but they have not settled on dates.
I received in an email notification about a Merit Scholarship. I received the Flagship Scholarship for up to $56,000 ($14k a year).
Is it a WUE scholarship?
I messaged admissions and asked when merit awards would go out (or if they already had) and received a reply saying Mid-February.
Assuming all the ones going out now are WUE.
