University of West Los Angeles Law School?

ok this is the weirdest school ever.

accepts people after 60 units of any education.

require 140 on LSAT

Promise to graduate in 3 full year or 4 part time

accredited

Cost 60K for all 3 years

Have 28% passing rate

Are they a scam?

Doesn't appear to be ABA accredited

What percentage of their students pass the bar? Any law school that does not enable you to pass the bar is by definition a scam.

No, they are not a scam. While it is not ABA approved, there are many state bar approved schools in California. They are called "opportunity" law schools, and IMHO, provide a needed avenue for the non-traditional student to obtain a law degree. Also, first years at such schools must pass the baby-bar -- a mini exam administered by the Cal. State Bar to prevent schools from fleecing would be lawyers.

Indeed, in the case of West L.A., its one time Dean was a very distinguished Judge -- The Hon. Bernard Jefferson, who's "Bench Book" was the "bible" for California trial judges.

Just note that graduates of this school, which is not ABA-accredited, probably would not be allowed to take a bar exam in any state but California.

true enough

well i heard the passing % in cali is 42, they are 28.

Not that bad.

This school proly shouldn't be anyone's #1 choice.

IMO, it could be a really good choice, depending on what you want to do with said law degree. There are people who want a JD, not to work in private practice, but as a background for gov't work, or a background for something like insurance. If you are planning on doing something like public defense and never want to live outside California, so long as you could pass the bar in CA, that might be a great choice.
