University Rankings

The World University Rankings for 2010 puts Caltech at second in the world!! And I have to agree - it is a phenomenal place with amazing collaboration and unparalled education. Yes, it is hard, yes you work more than at easier schools, but you also get much more out of college here than most anywhere else! If you want to coast through college and just get a diploma but not really learn, Caltech is NOT for you. If you want a challenge, work with the brightest minds in the country, and learn from the best, then Caltech IS for you...

Assuming you’re interested in mathematics and science(s).

The other interesting aspect is that California (the state) dominates the engineering rankings

The engineering and technology table is dominated not just by a single country, the US, but by a single state in that country — California.

Three of the top five in the table are from the Golden State, home to the global centre for high-technology business, Silicon Valley. The California Institute of Technology is in first place; Stanford University is third; and the University of California, Berkeley is fifth.

In total, seven Californian institutions make the top 50.*
