^^^ That’s a big screw you to anyone that thinks affirmative action GAURANTEES URM’s unfair acceptance.

very sorry to hear Nosike, I’m sure you’ll get into a great school where you’ll be very happy. I know how much it sucks to be rejected, but now I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else. It’s very hard to get in as international and very very very hard to get in as an international applying for aid at non-need blind schools.

^they group you into international for any applicants outside of US, meaning your race doesn’t help you.

Damn, I still think it helps though because I talked to Mustapha on this Canada forum a while back and I vaguely remember one of his posts/him saying that his race was a hook. But, anyways, I feel for you Nosike. But I agree with JonoWono. It might very well be because Duke is need aware for internationals and they may have just had not enough room/money to share amongst everyone.

I think the Ivys will be the real test as to the Affirmative Action for Internationals theory. We’ll see, best of luck to all.

BTW, where did hinderpanda go? She applied ED to Brown, no?

^There’s a reason why people don’t post.

^she actually hasn’t posted in a really long time so I don’t even know if that would be why.

Oh jeez. I can only imagine how hard it is going to be when I see all of my rejections come April 1st. But you know what, Im proud of us all anyways. I was thinking about it today, and this process is so difficult, and even more difficult when you are going at it alone (like most of us Canadians). Just remember that we are all very talented people, and if we don’t get into our top choice in the states, we still have the wonderful schools in canada that will be glad to have us.

Dont give up! Good luck to all of you as you submit your apps

Sorry Nosike! Better luck next time! (really~)

Did the yale SCEAers got their results yet??

Hey you guys, congrats to those of you who got it and beware of senioritis!

For those of you who are feeling the sting of rejection, hang in there! I know it is a long time to wait until RD results, but know that it is all worth it and that the day you get into your future school, you will completely forget about which school had been your first choice. I did and now, years later, I often forget that I had actually chosen another school as my first choice. In hindsight, I cannot imagine myself going there! Instead of dwelling on why you didn’t get in ED, think about all that is ahead. You have sooooo much to look forward to: pre-orientation excursions, freshman week, getting your face painted for the big football/basketball game, late night study breaks in your RA’s room, rushing a fraternity or sorority, a cappella group arch sings, road trips, spring break, etc.

One word of advice : don’t panic, I know that some of you may be tempted to go ED2 just to not have to wait until April, but unless the school is truly your second choice, don’t do it!

To keep you guys occupied, I am starting a couple of other threads that you may want to consult.

rejected @ Brown ED.
=D (k I know that smiley face is a little awkward, but I’m honestly not upset about this at all so I’m not sure how I should express this. - -)

^omg panda…so many bad newss except for itsinreach. Now I’m scared for when I apply RD. =

i got into umich today. i started getting a little nervous because a person with 3.9 + 2300 got deferred and a bunch of OOS kids were getting deferred with great stats.

switching to the common app and having EA have made umich way more competitive. admission rates will probably plummet a lot this year. they received 19,000 EA apps!
