or lack thereof is really plaguing me. I really appreciate the values and concepts that the academic fields of Chicago possess, but at the same time I am extremely weary that the social scene is going to consist of the chess team at my high school. I have a "floater" personality and I get along very well with all types of people and I occasionally enjoy the house party... and the girlies... will I be able to find a group like this at Chicago?

And how about them girls.... not to be shallow, but girls are always in the back of my mind, and unfortunately, it follows that the majority of the stupid girls are better looking.... I'm being a jerk, but I'm being honest...

I've read that Chicago is what you make of it. Most people who complain of a dead social life just don't seek it out; others who claim that truly do seek it out but astill have no luck finding anyone who's game. :P But I'm sure a lot who seek it out find people with whom they can have fun, whether that means partying, (cough) boozing (cough), or debating cubism.

An interesting comment from a supposed Chicago alumnus at studentsreview.com claimed that no alcohol laws were enforced in the dorms. The policy was just to "keep it out of sight." :o

P.S. I believe there are many more threads on this forum, as well as the archived forum. A search would be fruitful.

My daughter reports that her dorm is "very social." She goes to parties every week, and also finds time to take in the weekly free movies, hang out downtown (also every week), play intramural sports, etc. I agree with Sodfather's assessment, that Chicago is what you make of it.
