UoM vs NYU

I have been accepted into UoM and have been waitilisted at NYU. I will major in philosophy but I am not sure of what I will be pursuing after my studies. I am particularly interested in film/creative writing and so I will be experimenting with such media at university without them being my absolute goals. What I’d like to know is how much innovation each school allows and how many opportunities will I have at each of the schools as far as creativity and the arts are concerned given that I am majoring in something different.

Both are great schools, providing degrees which any employer would value highly. However, an important factor in this is the two schools’ locations. One’s in Ann Arbor, a great city which I love. The other’s in New York, one of the, if not the biggest city in the world. Yet because NYU essentially doesn’t have a campus, many students say that there isn’t as great of a sense of community. So at NYU, one might be able to pursue opportunities which are only available in New York, while at Michigan, one might be able to pursue opportunities through developing great relationships with people who could very well go on to achieve great things.
