I’m currently a upcoming a senior in Cranston,RI who plans on going to CCRI for the R.I Promise Program and (maybe) try to transfer to brown. (I know it’s a long shot and a crazy idea.)I guess my question is do you have any advice for someone like me?
I plan on majoring in computer science I mean I didn’t get the highest ACT/SAT scores I’m not big test taker I would I’m an average A- student in high school at best I don’t if that will matter when transferring colleges.
Most likely I think I’ll retake my ACT/SAT when I’m community college.
You get the best grades you possibly can— just hit that GPA out of the park. Pick your courses to match what is in Brown’s CS program for their freshmen. So that you look like a perfect match. That would give you the best chance for transferring g into Brown.
The problem with Brown is affording to go there. CS is ridiculously employable and you don’t need Brown and a mountain of student debt to get a good tech job out of college. Focus on a school you can afford, and I promise you’ll be fine.
What does Brown’s NPC say? If your family makes 100k or less Brown is likely to be very inexpensive, but if your family makes 300K it’s going to be very expensive.
Does CCRI have a partnership or agreement with Brown?
Also, learn about grammar and punctuation. (I’m only sort of kidding. Computer Scientists also need to be able to write coherently, if not for a CC post then for an admissions essay.) In any case, have a backup plan if Brown doesn’t pan out.
I don’t think so but when I contacted brown’s admission office and they said they have some transfer students who came through CCRI.
