Today we received a separate email regarding the Award Notification 2018-2019, which is much lower than the letter which received last week. Not sure which is the right one. Did anyone else receive a separate email?
We received an email today about a financial aid award (loan offer) as a result of the FAFSA. But that has nothing to do with the scholarship letter we received last week.
Yes. We received the same. So are we to ignore it, and assume the letter is the valid scholarship? Hope Luke would send out an email to clarify and remove the confusion.
I sent my scholarship response form to Luke to today. He said the following:
Thanks sewin2music! I should be hearing from the NMSC on Friday with my first roster of 1st choice designees. I’ll confirm with you should your name show up on there and will be able to enter your scholarship at that time. Let me know if you need anything else!
I’m just ignoring the loans.
Two weeks till the NMF Finalist dinner/program at UCF ! We can hardly wait !
Yes. It should be a fun event. My son and I will attend the Saturday portion. How many on this thread will be attending?
I plan to be there with my Daughter on Friday, March 23rd. Still not sure of the Saturday, considering we already toured the campus in November. Not sure if it would be worth doing it again or not.
Agreed on Saturday. We are signed up and will look at the itinerary when we get there. I look forward to seeing everyone ! Can’t wait for the 23rd !
Look forward to seeing everyone at the NMF Dinner Tomorrow night and the events scheduled for Saturday !
Please post any insights you guys learn from the event! Wish I could go, but I have a choir competition to get to!
Great weekend. Absolutely gorgeous weather. The kids were treated like royalty. At the dinner for NMF they were each given a gold medal, or should I say a gold hubcap with the UCF insignia on it. Dinner with reps from their respective departments and then a picture with the outgoing and incoming Presidents of the University. I do need to ask how we can get a copy of these pics for posterity and Dad and Mom’s sake. The scholars day the next day was more of the same. My D met with the marching band director for an hour and was very impressed. We talked with a couple of the NMF during the weekend. One from Apple Vally who said they were very impressed. Another from California sais the were touring UTD as well but seemed sold on UCF. We are head over heels in love with this place. The only problem is they won’t let me live on campus. Something about “Students only, no Dads” …sigh.
@Phlipper There’s another Californian!?!? Yay that’s so exciting!! I’m glad you guys had a nice visit and I look forward to meeting everyone at orientation and in the fall!!
To all of those Outstate future golden nights don’t panic when you get an email letting you know there’s been a change in your scholarship. The recent funding change by the state of Florida allowed UCF to use Benquisto funds instead of local university funds for your scholarship. The amount doesn’t change it’s just funded by the state instead of UCF. My daughter talked with Luke this morning to confirm that
Thanks for the heads up @Phlipper ! I just got an email from Luke describing the changes to the scholarship. Does this mean we have to send an updated version of the scholarship contract?
My D said Luke told her you do have to sign a new contract since it is from a different funding source. Luke emailed her a new copy and she printed it off and faxed it back.
@Phlipper Ok thank you!
Just wondering, who’s going to the honors orientation on June 7-8?
@sewin2music My son will be at the honors orientation. We are from Illinois and he will be a CS major planning to live in Towers 3. He plans on staying in the dorm overnight also for orientation. The honors orientation should be a great way for you all to start meeting each other.
Thanks for the heads up on the new contract phlipper.
My son will also be there! EE major and will live in Towers 3. He will also be staying in the dorms for orientation.
Awesome! I will be there (btw, I’m female) and am currently a biomedical sciences major, but I’m planning on switching to health sciences. I will also be living in Towers 3! I won’t be doing the overnight though. I suspect orientation will be very draining, in a good way, but I’ll need some time to decompress.
My daughter will be there! Nursing major and will be staying in the Towers.
