UPenn Bio-Dental: How hard to get into?

I am very interested in what UPenn’s 7-year Bio-Dental Program has to offer. However, I have heard that the program is extremely competitive (2-4 acceptances every year, is this true?). Would anybody mind helping elaborating on how hard it is to get into this program?

Hello, I am currently in the Bio-Dental program with Lehigh/UPenn. I’m not gonna lie, it is difficult to get into any combined dental or medical program, and the fact that it is with Penn makes it even more hard. I know that the Penn/Penn program is the most selective because you have to first be accepted as a regular undergrad student to Penn and then the dental school will consider you for admission into the Bio-Dental program. You will increase your chances of getting in if you check off more boxes for other undergrad schools: Lehigh, Villanova, Muhlenberg, and I think there’s one more. For all these schools, they review your application and then some might require an interview (Muhlenberg did, Lehigh didn’t). After this, if you are deemed a suitable candidate for the undergrad institution, they will forward your application to Penn dental. Penn will then make the final decision.
There are very few applicants who get into the program through Lehigh, and this past year (Class of 2019) 0 people were offered admission by Penn. Lehigh, on the other hand, forwarded about 5 applications to Penn. There is no harm in trying, do not let this selectivity stop you from applying! If you want to talk more about your personal application and about your chances, PM me, and I can help!

I know of a girl who was accepted ED this year to Penn undergrad and Penn dental (7 year dental program) so there was definitely at least one who got in!
