UPenn Class of 2018 ED Applicants

Yes because boasting about your SAT scores, showing disregard for your interview is such a good way of engaging in discussion. If this is what discussion is about I could go on and on about how my Father’s side of the family has 2 gens of legacy at Cornell and how my mother’s side of the family has been Oxbridge educated for centuries. I could talk about all the stuff that I’ve done, but I don’t make a big deal out f it.

I don’t either. But you still skillfully exploited the situation and shed light on your ancestors’ accomplishments

Did not even think that ppl would react in this way. what the actual duck

Hmmm, is this guy for real. Probably has some shortcomings elsewhere.

“Guess who is applying with 2.4K, 800s in five subjects and 4.0 GPA?!” Did you actually expect people not to react the way that they did…

Gotta, that was obviously a joke. Making fun at people who actually boast about their accomplishments and also ppl on this forum who all turn out to be perfect scorers and best applicants. chillax

Moderator’s note

Believe it or not, some adcoms read CC and can easily put your posts together with your app. So post whatever brags and personal details at your own risk since the posts can’t be take down even if requested.

Lol we could’ve avoided all of this.

now if you’ll all excuse me, i have to get off this forum and get back to my research paper. see you in Philadelphia.

On a completely different note, my Penn Portal isn’t working. It displays an error message associated with the common application being down and stuff. Is anyone else seeing this page? Any suggestions on how to deal with this? I know we still have some time, but it’d be more stressless if I found that this was a generic system problem and not something with my application. Thanks!

at this point i don’t think the portal is ever going to work hahahha

check to make sure your bookmark is the original, sometimes people logout and then bookmark the page that looks like the login page, but the link is not correct, just a thought.

Nope. No portal for me yet. :frowning: I can’t seem to log-in on chrome either. It was working fine for a week or two and now it tells me I have a browser error.

Still no portal for me either

Am I the only one who hasn’t had an interview yet??

For readers, don’t worry about applicants like this. He was boastful in extremis, got called out, now is backing away – claiming it was all a joke and now trying to fake the funk.

The reality is he (I think it’s a male applicant) may likely get into Penn. But before any of you other applicants roll your eyes, just know that at a place like Penn, the haughty and self-important folks quickly come down to earth. Due to the sheer numbers of high accomplishing folks, humility comes quickly to everyone. Sometimes it’s self-realized, sometimes it’s imposed.

An anecdote to share with you: Upon entering my HYP alma mater, all of us were assigned a faculty member as a freshman advisor. Mine called a meeting at one of the common rooms to introduce himself and for all his advisees to meet one another right before classes began. There was about a dozen guys gathered together and we sat in a circle on various couches and chairs. One fellow insisted that we call him “Chateau” (curious as this is French for “house”). Whatever, right? Well as the professor begins his meeting, Chateau gets up from his chair and lies down right in the center of the circle, reclining with his hands behind his head, listening to the professor. My advisor noticed this but didn’t say anything. Around the circle, there were rolling eyes and smirks and thoughts of “Who does this guy think he is?”. Later as we were talking one of the other guys said “Hey Big Toe… oops, sorry, Chateau…” That caught us and several of us chuckled as this guy was just knocked down a few pegs. I heard that later on, Chateau reverted back to his given name. The witty guy turned out to be in my residential college and became one of my best friends. It turns out he was an Andover alum and could sniff out posers easily. He was very down to earth and a great guy – funny and a super quick wit.

do you guys think committee has started yet? have most apps already been read?

such an anecdote. gj

At least we know the applicant portal’s working now. I got today’s updated message posted in mine.

Yeah I saw a message too. Hey anybody here had their alumni interviews?

I’ve had mine already!

And is that considered “working” lol? It still says tracking is unavailable for me.
