UPenn Club Sports: WOMENS ICE HOCKEY

Hi everyone:
I'm the captain/president of the Women's Ice hockey team at Penn, and we're recruiting players for next year. If you're an incoming freshman, upperclassman, or prospective student and if you have any playing experience (or are willing to learn) we would love to have you on the team!

If you at all think you might be interested, reply to this thread or shoot me an email at mflah@seas.upenn.edu, and we can talk about it.
Or check out our website: Penn Women's Ice Hockey Club | Home

Would you really take someone with next to no playing experience/someone willing to learn? I had hoped to learn/play in high school but scheduling never worked out, so I have all of the equipment and a ridiculously small amount of experience. I’m a pretty good ice skater.

How much of a time commitment is it, and when do you guys practice?
Also, I’m going to be a junior.
Thanks!

Yes–Definitely. We’ve had 2 girls in the past 2 years that were brand new (there’s a pretty steep learning curve, so you’ll pick it up fast!)
The majority of the team is 2013, actually…4-ish players joined as sophomores this year.

We practice 2x a week: Friday afternoons and a yet-to-be-determined weekday afternoon, and we have usually 1 game a week, on saturday or sunday. The season runs from november to february/march. We’ll have max 1 or 2 away trips that we might have to stay overnight for.

So, yea: You can always come out to the first practice to get a feel for the team and the sport–if you’re willing to stick with it and learn, we’re willing to teach you!
If you send me your contact information, I’m devising a potential-new-player mailing list so that I can email you all later in the summer. Let me know!

Hi. Do you happen to know anything about the Men’s ice hockey program…contact info, etc.
