UPenn ED Class of 2023

I just got an alumni interview request this morning on November 15. I submitted my application on October 30, and I applied for MechE to SEAS. I got the request via email, where I was told to pick the time I wanted, and the method of contact. I’m an international from Africa and I picked Skype.

@cheezy My interview lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. A very exciting conversation! probably the most intellectually stimulating one all month. Our interview just flowed into whatever we wanted to talk about. Mostly politics + standard ones like why penn and what things you do.

@uwuowo , my D was chastised by her alumni interviewer for mentioning politics and was told to never talk politics in an admissions interview again. It was very disheartening to her, tbh. I guess the interviews are not all the same.

@milgymfam That’s horrible… My interviewer was a poli sci/ history major so we definately had more interest in that… I definately lucked out, my interviewer attended a lot of events/ volunteered for the congressional candidate that I worked for for 6 months. If politics is her interest then the interviewer should ask her questions about that…

In today’s polarized world, it is not good idea to talk about politics in the interview in case the other one is on the other side.

In less than a month we will have our decisions! That is absolutely wild! Wishing good luck and positivity to all

Still haven’t recieved any interview call, bummed. Is there anyone that has been accepted into Wharton without having recieved an interview call.
My stats are:
SAT 1540 v740 M800
ACT 35
Rank 1/450
GPA 4.0/4.45
10 APs until junior year- all 5s except two 4s
Internship at county earned income tax bureau senior year
Taking college math senior year
All state for jazz music tenor sax
Varsity tennis player all 4 years
Academic challenge team captain
Started own band quartet
National merit semi finalist
Numerous volunteer hours held international board position in volunteer organization

What are my chances, anyone?

Your test scores are great while your ECs seem to be lacking a bit. However, they are in line with some of the Wharton admits. Are you an international applicant?

My brother is an alumni interviewer for Wharton, nobody he has interviewed has ever been accepted and he’s been interviewing for 11 years. My DS did NOT get an interview, he is bummed but I’m not so sure they made a big difference.

Interviews usually do not make any difference. It only does when some big surprises were discovered in the interview.

silly question but what does DS mean here?

DS means darling son DD mean darling daughter.

How much do interviews matter for admission?

interviews matter very little in admission

When are decisions coming out? Does anyone know?

December 13 from what I’ve heard. Also, interview reports are due November 21

@ibanker38 how do you know interview reports are due Nov 21? I

@ibanker38 if this is true, does that mean that interviews will not occur after November 21?

Also I feel its weird that I havnt been contacted about an interview, I submitted my app a few days before the deadline and i live in a major northeast metro area…

Does anyone know when we will be notified by Penn of the official decision notification date for Early Decision?

I was looking at some of the comments when this thread first started back in April. @Pennmom2022 you literally just made that comment about the interview to say that your kid got into Penn. The number of immature, stuck-up parents on this sub is just atrocious smh…

If anyone wants a great college forum (one with less snobby, arrogant parents) I recommend just heading over to reddit’s
