@transfer20202021 people who attend 4 year universities still get accepted though! they look at every application and it just comes down to if they think you and penn are the right fit. i’m just applying what I know about other ivy transfers to penn. for example i know princeton pretty much only takes community college transfers and veterans. i could be totally wrong about penn though, just my opinions! best of luck!
@mill213 thank you! That’s still helpful. Best of luck to you too. I’m kind of going out of my mind speculating but at this point there is probably no use. Best off just waiting instead of creating a million hypotheticals. These decisions can’t come soon enough.
Is there any chance that the decision comes out before May 15th or will they all be released on the same day?
@accepted33 they always release them at once around 5pm. I’m thinking they will release them on may 15 like they have done in past years.
Thanks! good luck @mill213 and everyone else!
I uploaded my unofficial HS transcripts as soon as I got access to my portal because my transcripts were sent out via mail and they told me they don’t have access to physical copies that were mailed to them. And they told me that they will need OFFICIAL copies to evaluate my application. If I can’t provide them with official copies, I have an option to withdraw. I was really surprised by that response as all the other colleges allowed unofficial copies since they don’t have access to their offices (I can’t even find my HS’s email to contact anyone for the official electronic copies). But I am more surprised that they told you it was okay that you have uploaded the unofficial ones… So weird
@muffinbun that’s oddly strange. I emailed them a long time ago (several times) asking if it was not an issue that I would not be able to provide official documents (I did sent them out, but they were not being updated on my portal). So, I uploaded unofficial documents through the portal. After emailing them, they assured me that it was okay and they would only ask me for the official documents (to see that they reflect accurate information of what I sent them) if I were to be admitted.
I am applying as a junior transfer, and I am almost sure they have looked over my application because before uploading documents I had the midterm report required. After submitting everything, and letting a week or two gone by, they waived that document (being that it is only required from rising sophomores).
The change the requirement give me reasons to believe that they have reviewed some applications at least, not sure if that means that some AO’s have made decisions already, but just a speculation.
However, in regards to your situation, I find that strange as to why they would say that.
I agree with @angeldiaz - it’s really odd that the AO would say that @muffinbun ! Even their portal says “Transfer applicants whose high schools are closed due to coronavirus are permitted to send unofficial high school transcripts or grade reports if official transcripts are not currently available. We will use these unofficial documents to review your application in the interim.”
I would email them and point out the inconsistency in their policies. It’d be really horrible if they made you withdraw because you don’t have access to the official transcript at the moment, given the current context and all.
@muffinbun The same thing happened to me! I sent in an unofficial high school transcript and was emailed last week by an admissions officer who told me that they “needed my official transcript to complete my application” even though it says on the portal unofficial documents are acceptable. So weird…
Thank you everyone for your advice! Even though I got that weird email from AO, I still hope that my application will be considered as I am not planning to withdraw it (didn’t work so hard in my cc, just to give up so soon). My Midterm Grade Report was waived as well, but it still says that I am missing my HS Transcripts (even though I uploaded the unofficial one more than a month ago). I will definitely email them and ask why are their emails inconsistent with what they have in the portal. @salster good thing I posted my comment here. Or else we would think we’re the only once who had that kind of response from AO.
Who else is extremely bored in quarantine and can’t handle waiting any longer? I feel like if I had the distractions of my college it would be fine but being at home and having finished my courses this is pretty unbearable. I keep overanalyzing my application, my essays, what more I could’ve done. 2 weeks from today though guys!!! What majors are you all interested in??
Did anyone else submit an unofficial HS transcript? My checklist still says incomplete, wonder if they’ll read my application last lol.
@columbian69420 I uploaded my unofficial HS transcript through the portal. They clearly have checked my application status because my midterm grades were waived (I am a junior transfer), but they left my official HS transcript as incomplete, which is fine because they said this red mark would only be removed after they received the official transcript, but they will use the unofficial one for reading your app. So no worries.
I’m a rising sophomore and I submitted my midterm report through the supplemental material section… since they said that was okay and that the checklist wouldn’t update unless the official report is sent in, I’m assuming that it’s okay that my midterm report still says “awaiting”?
Hey, this is kind of random but I had one “W” my winter quarter; basically, I dropped this chem course for chem majors (I was trying to fulfill a science GE but all the easy science classes were full lol), but my grades in econ, social science, math were good. I am trying to do english or econ at penn. Do you think this would affect my admissions?
@Pink20 i’m in the exact same boat. i hope it’s okay lmao
I sent mine via email and the same morning they confirmed they got it and updated the checklist. Idek if they’re still updating the checklist at this point but just email them to double check that they have it. You don’t wanna be “disqualified” from a decision or something.
@covid19sux I actually have one W as well in non-major related course. And I think it’s fine to have just 1 because it definitely can happen. Also considering you took it over the winter and sometimes the level of difficulties in winter and summer courses can be a little bit different.
thanks for your input haha!
For those who applied for aid, is there a way we can check whether we submitted all the required forms?
