UPenn Nursing

This may be a stupid question but I’m a sophomore in high school looking into becoming a neonatal nurse practitioner and UPenn’s School of Nursing has everything I want, such as the submatriculation program offered to BSN students looking for an MSN. However, even though the website talks about undergraduate nursing education, everything I look at suggests that the UPenn School of Nursing is strictly a graduate school. When I’m a senior, would I apply to UPenn or the UPenn School of Nursing for my undergraduate degree? Sorry if this question is confusing!

You are applying to Penn. You can choose Nursing as the program.

Thank you! Just a follow up, is the acceptance rate for the nursing program different than the overall 9ish%? I’ve read some places that it’s around 40% but it seems too good to be true.

Penn Nursing ranks the topmost in the country. The admission rate should not be that high. However, it is common belief that Nursing is the the easiest school to get in in Penn.

20% rate for class 2014. Could not find the latest figure. Penn usually does not publish this number per school. It is safe to assume the number drops every year. This year is class 2020.

Thanks again!

When I talked to admissions, they said it was about 12% for nursing, 9% overall

You should definitely apply to the School of Nursing emrose623!
I’m actually currently a student at Penn Nursing and what happens is after four years you will get your BSN and can apply to submatriculate (as you already know) around Junior year.
Good luck!

@stars987, do you know how many applicants apply to Penn Nursing each year and how many are accepted/admitted for both ED and RD?

@emrose623 I’m looking to be a neonatal nurse practitioner too!!!

@emrose623 Nursing Class of 2020 had a 9% acceptance rate according to admissions.
Ranked #2 in the country this year. All Penn undergraduate schools have different acceptance rates. They are all much lower than in years past!! Good luck! You should definitely consider it! Philadelphia has top hospitals for clinicals as well!
