Hello,

The title says it all. One note: I'm talking about the Vagelos Program in Molecular Life Sciences, NOT the Vagelos Program in Life Science and Management. Also, by "UPenn (no vagelos)" I mean just attending UPenn without the Vagelos program, just as a biochem/chem/bio major.

Which of these schools would be the best for pre-med and why?

Thanks for your time. :)

IF cost is no issue, I’d go with the vagelos program. Your chances of getting published and having access to great labs is higher with that program.

Cost consideration should be very important to you. I chose to go to an out-of-state school and now I am regretting my decision because I had to pay so much, only to realize that my school’s reputation and the extracurricular activities it provided me will be of no importance to medical schools because my numbers are not that strong (29, 30 on the mcat). If I knew I was going to only score a 29, 30 on the mcat, I would have gone to a school in state and just done the typical pre-med extracurricular activities, instead of paying a lot to go out-of-state and taking advantage of my school’s extracurricular activities.

Go where it is cheapest and do the typical pre-med extracurricular activities, but MAKE YOUR NUMBERS STRONG like no other. Medical schools, especially top schools care only about the numbers. Keep them up over everything.
