Any advice would be appreciated! It's getting close to the deadline and I have to make my final decision! Thanks :))

Boston University- Trustee Scholarship (free tuition)- I love Boston, I love the study abroad opportunities and the honors program seminars sound really interesting

University of Pittsburgh- Chancellor's Scholarship (free ride)- I love Pittsburgh, I would get a stipend for study abroad, and I could get a Bachelors of Philosophy in International Relations and double major in Chemistry (which would include writing a thesis on an international research project)

Georgia Tech- President's Scholarship (free ride)- I could get stipend for study abroad but it would be a bit more competitive, I would double major in Public Policy, Science, and Technology and Chemical Engineering which would let me fuse my science interests with policy, GT has a really great internship program, well known for engineering if I decide to go that route, I'm apprehensive about the southern culture though (I'm atheist, really liberal, dress kind of hipstery and all)

Oh and I want to end up working for the government in public policy, specifically environmental policy, using a science and technology background to aid me in this. So basically I'm very excited about my options but I'm really torn!!! I would really appreciate and help/advice!!!!! Thanks :))

Hello,

Congrats on those schools.

Now, what are you looking for in a school? You mentioned public policy (environmental), science/tech background, study abroad program.

What about other interests? School size preference? Have you visited each school you named? Do you care about school’s rankings or reputation? Are you looking into graduate school afterwards? Are you looking for Greek life? Sport school - Division I, II, III?

These questions, and many other factors come into play. Let me know, what are your preferences and how important they are to you. What are the first things you must have in your college…?

My private consultant actually helped me through my decision process. =)

Choose U Pitts or Georgia Tech. Compare the strengths of their programs. Spend as little as possible for undergraduate education for you need graduate degrees to reach your career goal. The living expenses in Boston is higher compared to many other cities.

Stephl26, all of these schools are fairly large, but I don’t mind that because I would be in honors programs and would get a smaller community feel that way. And I have visited all of these schools, I had a great experience at all of them, but I did feel the southern culture at Georgia Tech, but I know I could find people like me anywhere. As far as Greek life, I don’t think I would partake in that. And I don’t care about the sports either. The most important thing to me is the people I will be surrounded by and what opportunities my education will set me up for (grad school, job later on)

You should look at alumni profiles and how the graduates of your program ended up regarding each school. And BU is an awesome school!

Hello, Decisiontimee!

I asked my consultant for you (she’s really nice and always available to help me- unlimited emailing/text service), she suggested 1. Georgia Tech 2. BostonU. 3. UPitt for these reasons: You are aiming for science/public policy background, so GT is best. Among these three schools, for ranking purposes (based on admissions selectivity), BostonU-GT-UPitt, in this order.

If you were considering Financial aid, which doesn’t seem like you are, it’s another story… =)

Good luck!

Thank you!! Very helpful :))
